Method of remediating sub-slab vapors and soils of buildings and system thereof
A method is provided for treating contaminated vapors in an area below a slab of a building such that the slab is located above a first layer of gravel and a second layer of soil. The method includes providing an ozone unit, a riser pipe, and tubing. An area below the slab where contaminated vapors need treated is first detected and then a hole is formed in the slab to define an injection location. The method also includes positioning the riser pipe in the hole at the injection location and coupling the tubing between the ozone unit and the riser pipe. The method further includes dispensing ozone from the ozone unit to flow through the tubing and the riser pipe to treat contaminated vapors in the area below the slab.
VAPOR MITIGATION APPRATUS AND METHOD
A vapor mitigation apparatus and method for use with the construction of a building. The apparatus includes a vertical securing piece configured to be affixed to a foundation wall proximate a footing that is supporting the foundation wall. The vertical securing piece has a first end located proximate to a footing and a second end. A horizontal foot is located at the first end of the securing piece and extends away from the securing piece. The horizontal foot is configured to rest against the footing. The apparatus also includes a mechanical clip located at the second end of the vertical securing piece and is configured to secure a piece of plastic sheeting. The method includes securing the apparatus to the foundation wall, securing a plastic sheeting to the mechanical clip and then creating a concrete slab by pouring concrete over the apparatus. The apparatus may also include a membrane material and a rigid ring located at the approximate center of the membrane material. An inner portion of the membrane material is located inside the perimeter of the ring. The rigid ring is configured to be located around one of the at least one penetration such that the inner portion of the membrane material is configured to stretch around the one penetration resulting in the sealing of the apparatus to the penetration.
Membrane-lined wall
A method for forming a trench and a membrane-lined wall in the trench for levee reinforcement or leak prevention, prevention of water migration, and pollution co of impoundments. The membrane-lined wall generally includes a cementitious or concrete wall formed within an excavated trench. The concrete may be internally reinforced, and the wall may also comprise a double-layer of impermeable geomembrane liner that forms a barrier between the concrete and the sides and bottom of the trench. The membrane or liner reduces water migration, prevents levee leakage, and prevents the escape of contaminants in impoundments.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR LANDFILL THERMAL INSULATION
Systems and methods are disclosed for landfill systems, comprising waste, a geosynthetic product, and a layer of foam glass aggregates interposed between the waste and the geosynthetic product.

Composite slotting equipment combined static pressure and vibration of polymer anti-seepage wall and using method thereof
A pressing-pulling device, a polymer anti-seepage wall static pressure vibration composite slotting equipment and a using method include: a pressing-pulling bracket, wherein slotting oil cylinders are symmetrically and vertically mounted on the pressing-pulling bracket, and a piston rod of each of the slotting oil cylinders faces downwardly; a bottom end of the piston rod is connected to a connecting plate, and a through-hole is provided in a middle of the connecting plate; a continuous lifting mechanism is installed in a middle of the pressing-pulling bracket, and a slotting rod is vertically inserted into the continuous lifting mechanism; a lifting ring is installed at a top end of the slotting rod; a bottom end of the slotting rod extends downwardly through the through-hole to connect to a slotting cutter; a locking device is fixed on the connecting plate near the through-hole for fixing the slotting rod.
Blower control system
A controller for controlling a system for mitigating the flow of vapors from contaminated soil into a building controls a blower pulling an exhaust from underneath the sub slab of the building and blowing the vapors away from the building. The blower is controlled by pressure sensors that measure the pressure drop across the sub slab. The sensors are monitored by the controller to make sure they all have a minimum pressure drop. If any of the sensors have an inadequate pressure drop, the blower speed is increased a small amount by the controller. If all of the sensors have adequate pressure drop, then the blower speed is decreased by a small amount. The controller then rechecks the pressure drops on a periodic basis and makes appropriate blower speed adjustments after each measurement.
VADIR Barrier: A Concrete Slab Underlayment with All-in-One Void Form, Air Barrier, Drainage Plane, Insulation and Radon Protection
A concrete slab underlayment product is used at an excavation area at which a concrete foundation slab is to be poured. The underlayment combines a vapour barrier layer with a set of foam insulation bodies. The vapour barrier layer spans fully over the entire set of foam insulation bodies, which are spaced apart from one another at least at lower ends thereof opposite the vapour barrier layer. This leaves drainage/air spaces open between the foam insulation bodies when laid in an installed position atop the floor of an excavated area. In use under a concrete slab, the vapour barrier layer forms a gas and moisture barrier, and the foam insulation bodies and the drainage/air spaces therebetween form a combination of void spaces, drainage channels and insulation blocks between the concrete slab and the floor of the excavation area.
Portable system and method for processing waste to be placed in landfill
A portable system and method for processing waste to be solidified and placed in an active cell of a landfill. A portable pugmill is moveable adjacent an active cell of a landfill; and portable devices, which may be mounted on sleds or trailers, may be used for feeding the pugmill with waste to be solidified into a landfill-ready state. The waste may be fed to the pugmill without the need for long-term waste storage devices, and avoiding substantial delays between discharge of the waste from trucks to the pugmill-feeding steps.
