Corrugated furring strips and use of same in upright wall structures

Corrugated furring strips are used on the outer side of an exterior insulation layer in an exterior wall construction. The corrugated furring strips support a final cladding layer at an offstanding position from the insulation, thereby providing a rainscreen. The corrugated furring strips are fastened to the framework of the wall through the exterior insulation layer. Optional bridging members shaped to conformingly mate with lands and grooves of the corrugated furring straps cooperate therewith to define a support grid with improved load capacity for heavier cladding materials and more fastening location options. The insulation layer is free of any thermal bridges other than the insulation-penetrating fasteners used to support the furring and optional bridges. Thermally insulative washers isolate the furring and optional bridges from the fasteners to further improve the insulating effect of the wall.

Concrete reinforcement assembly, method of installation, and method to determine cyclic load response
09857351 · 2018-01-02 · ·

A concrete reinforcement assembly including a first hollow metal sleeve, an anchor bar that is nested concentrically within the first hollow metal sleeve, and a second hollow metal sleeve. The first hollow metal sleeve is nested concentrically within the second hollow metal sleeve and an infill material is disposed in between the first hollow metal sleeve and the anchor bar, and in between the first hollow metal sleeve and the second hollow metal sleeve. The infill material dampens energy transfer to and from the concrete reinforcement assembly when employed for structural stability in a concrete structure. A method for repairing a damaged concrete anchor with the concrete reinforcement assembly. A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon a program that, when executed by a computer, causes the computer to execute a method of determining a cyclic response factor of a concrete reinforcement assembly in a concrete structure.

A fiber-reinforced composite structure, such as a cross arm for use in the power industry, having a rectangular outer cross-sectional shape and an inner hollow core having a curvilinear cross-sectional shape.

Light-weight metal stud and method of manufacture

A light-weight metal framing member includes a metal stud and reinforcement plate(s), and method to produce a light-weight metal framing member may include forming a pair of channel members each having a respective major face having a respective first edge, and reinforcing such with one or more reinforcement plates, preferably at opposed ends thereof. Each member includes first and second flanges extending along the respective major face. A wire matrix includes a pair of wires each having apexes alternatively physically attached to the pair of channel members. The wire matrix forms longitudinal passages to support utility lines and position the lines away from the pair of channel members. The apexes are secured to flanges of the pair of channel members to strengthen the stud and reduce weight.

DEVICE FOR FORMING POST SLEEVES AND RELATED METHODS
20170247900 · 2017-08-31 ·

A method of forming a post sleeve within a post hole in the ground to include a post receiving cavity to insertably receive and support a post is provided. The method includes positioning a post sleeve core within the post hole with the aid of an elongate installation member and depositing uncured material into the post hole to at least partially surround the post sleeve core while the post sleeve core is attached to the elongate installation member. The method further includes allowing the uncured material to harden around the post sleeve core to form at least a portion of the post-receiving cavity of the post sleeve and removing the post sleeve core from the hardened material to expose the post receiving cavity to receive and support the post. Other related methods of forming post sleeves are also provided.

Telescopic structural systems and construction method

A telescoping barrier assembly provides interlocking modules coupled together so as to slide vertically with respect to the other. The modules telescopically extend to a deployed position to form a barrier that withstands inertial and the external forces, and then retracts to a collapsed position. The modules include a base module and a plurality of deployable modules that are arranged in a nested configuration, such that each module slides in and out of an adjacent module. The base module has a mounting portion that may be subterranean. A lifting mechanism applies an axial force to the deployable modules to enable displacement between the operational and collapsed position. Spring biased lateral support members help the deployable modules remain in the extended position and a pulley system helps displace the modules to the collapsed position. An inner and outer seal inhibit liquid leakage between the module and between multiple adjacent assemblies.
