In one aspect, an extendible member (10) comprises a laminated shell (2) of plural fibre reinforced layers (P1-P5) constructed and arranged to be configurable between a coiled form and an extended form. In the extended form (12) the shell is resiliently biased in the form of an elongate tube having longitudinal edges (14) defining a slit (3) along its length and wherein the shell can be opened out at the slit to assume a flattened form in which it can be wound about an axis extending transversely to its longitudinal direction to assume its coiled form (11). In the region of one or both longitudinal edges (50), the amount of reinforcing fibre is less than in the region between the edge regions (51). In another aspect, a flexible cord (40) may be attached along the edge of a shell.

A mast assembly (10), a method of deploying a mast (20), a slit locking clamp (50) for a mast and to a support assembly (14) for an extendible member (20) are provided. The mast assembly (10) comprises an extendible mast (20) configurable between a coiled form and an extended form. When extended the mast is resiliently biased in the form of an elongate tube having a slit along its length defined by longitudinal edges of the mast. When coiled the mast is opened out at the slit to a flattened cross section and wound about an axis extending transversely to the longitudinal extent of the mast. A slit locking clamp (50) clamps across the slit in the mast at a position along the length of the mast so as to stabilise one edge relative to the other.

COLLAPSIBLE TUBULAR MAST (CTM) WITH SURFACE MATERIAL BETWEEN TRUSSES

A trussed collapsible tubular mast includes a deformable beam having an extended state, a flattened state, and a rolled state, where a stiffness and strength of the deformable beam in the extended state is greater than a different stiffness and a different strength of the deformable beam in the flattened state. At least one collapsible tubular mast wall has a plurality of truss members of a first material having a first material thickness. At least one truss member is disposed substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the trussed collapsible tubular mast. Disposed between the truss members is a wall area of a second material thickness less thick than the first material thickness.

Support bracket assembly and method

A support assembly for mounting masonry veneer to supporting wall structure has a first shelf angle, a second shelf angle, and a first shelf angle mounting bracket. Each shelf angle mounting bracket has an upwardly extending back that mounts to the supporting wall structure, and a web extending forwardly away from the wall structure. The web has at least a first shelf angle mounting seats formed in a lower region thereof that hangs downwardly of a vertical load shear transfer connection. A brace is mounted to the bracket. The brace underhangs the cantilevered supporting structure, and provides a moment reaction. The brace has a non-intrusive interface with the supporting structure. That interface may be in compression and the brace may act as a strut. The brace may be thermally isolated from the bracket. The brace may fit within the space envelope of a stud wall.

Adjustable header

An adjustable header assembly includes a first piece of material and a second piece of material and at least one bracket. The first piece of material has a fixed length and the second piece of material has an adjustable length. In operation, the length of the second piece of material is adjusted until the second piece of material is proximate wall studs. The second piece of material is then coupled to the studs and the at least one bracket is coupled to the first and second pieces of material.
