Synthetic fabric having slip resistant properties and method of making same
11767674 · 2023-09-26 · ·

A synthetic nonwoven fabric having bonded fibers forming channels surrounding unbonded fibers forming raised slip resistant spots. The fabric is made by extruding hot polymer through a spinneret die onto a moving belt to form a sheet of random fibers, which sheet undergoes a calendering process between a pair of heated rollers, one of which rollers having a plurality of cavities defined in its surface. The resulting fabric can be laminated and otherwise combined with other layers as desired to provide an end product having good slip resistant properties.

Microporous membranes, underlayment, roofing, flashing, wrap, and methods for making and using the same

In at least one embodiment, a microporous membrane having a moderate to high water vapor permeability and high liquid water penetration resistance is disclosed. The microporous membrane may be used in building applications, including as or as part of a building wrap, a rain screen, a roofing underlayment, a flashing, a sound proofing material, or an insulation material. The microporous membrane may include at least one thermoplastic polymer, at least one filler, and at least one processing oil. The microporous membrane may be flat or may have ribs. The microporous membrane may include at least one scrim component. A method for forming the microporous membrane is also disclosed.

EMBOSSED FLEECE MATERIALS FOR ROOFING UNDERLAYMENTS
20230295929 · 2023-09-21 ·

A roofing underlayment comprising an exterior sheet with a fleece material having an embossed texture on a first and/or a second surface thereof. The fleece material comprises polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The exterior sheet may consist of the embossed PET fleece material, or comprise multiple layers which comprise the embossed PET fleece material arranged at an uppermost layer of the exterior sheet. A method of embossing the exterior sheet comprising the PET fleece material is also provided. Embodiments of the method involve using an off-line method of embossment, separate from the fabric production line, or an on-line method of embossment, to emboss the exterior sheet.

Vapor permeable, water resistive, air barrier polyester membrane having a polyacrylic coating with porous pressure sensitive adhesive added to the rear surface of the membrane
11186985 · 2021-11-30 ·

An ultra violet stable polyester membrane with a polyacrylic coating on one side and a coated pressure sensitive adhesive coating on its other side capable of allowing water vapor to pass through it. The pressure sensitive adhesive is formed of a copolymer comprising a backbone of n-butyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, and vinyl acetate which is mixed with at least one surfactant and emulsified to produce air bubbles which form pores when the copolymer is set with about 80% to about 90% of the pore sizes ranging from about 200 microns to about 300 microns and being uniformly distributed to form a flow path through the pressure sensitive adhesive.
