A cup holder assembly for a portable and handheld walking apparatus that includes a fastener assembly with an annular clasp operably configured to selectively translate to increase and decrease in diameter an annular recess defined thereon for receiving and retaining a portable and handheld walking apparatus. The cup holder assembly also includes a first hinge member directly coupled to the annular clasp and a second hinge member hingedly coupled to the first hinge member, wherein the second hinge member is operably configured to rotate and have at least one locked position along a rotation path with respect to the annular clasp. The assembly includes a cantilevered support rod with a portion directly coupled to the second hinge member and having a terminal distal end and a cylindrical container member and a container fastener configured to couple with the cantilevered support rod.

UMBRELLA SYSTEM

An umbrella system includes a support pole connected to a rotating tube positioned around a center tube that extends between the support pole and a center support that is connected to an umbrella frame. The rotating tube has one or more helical grooves therein that are engaged by teeth of a hub which is connected to the umbrella frame. As the rotating tube is rotated, the hub is driven along the length of the rotating tube thereby opening and closing the umbrella frame. In one arrangement system includes a motor housing assembly including a plurality of batteries and a motor that includes a driven gear that meshes with a stationary gear which causes rotation of the rotating tube.

The rolling stick is a supporting structure. The rolling stick transfers the load of a patient to a supporting surface. The rolling stick is a rolling structure. The rolling stick operates in a rolling mode and a stationary mode. The rolling stick includes a stanchion structure, a plurality of leg structures, and a caster structure. The plurality of leg structures and the caster structure attach to the stanchion structure. The stanchion structure transfers the load of the patient to the supporting surface. The caster structure rolls the rolling stick across the supporting surface. The plurality of leg structures forms a mechanical structure that: a) forms multiple load paths used for transferring the load of the patient to the supporting surface; and, b) stabilizes the rolling stick from rolling when the rolling stick is in the stationary mode.

Walking cane with integrated assisted sit-to-stand lifting device

A walking cane may be transformed into an assistive device for sit-to-stand transfers. The device has two sets of opposing handles, which are to be grasped by the user and an assister during sit-to-stand transfers. The transformation is accomplished by deploying a second set of handles by pivoting or rotating from a stored to a utility position. The assistive device form can then be reversed by the user once standing by reversing the deployment.
