METHODS OF OPERATING A LOCK
20230323704 · 2023-10-12 · ·

A method of controlling a lock mechanism of an active door includes transiting an access controller of the lock mechanism to an authorized access mode and transitioning the access controller from the authorized access mode to an entry mode. Transitioning the access controller to the authorized access mode is in response to an authorized user being sensed approaching the active door from an exterior side of the active door or in response to input on a remote device. In the authorized access mode, an exterior handle of the active door is decoupled from a main latch of the lock mechanism. Transitioning the access controller to the entry mode is in response to sensed contact with the exterior handle. In the entry mode, the exterior handle is capable of rotating to transition the access controller to an unlocked mode in which the exterior handle is operably coupled to the main latch.

Security features for aerosol generation device

A security device for an aerosol generation device includes an engagement assembly configured to releasably engage a portion of the aerosol generation device and a locking assembly operably coupled to the engagement assembly. The locking assembly is configured to have a locked state in which the engagement assembly is affixed to the portion of the aerosol generation device, and an unlocked state in which the engagement assembly is released from being affixed to the portion of the aerosol generation device. The engagement assembly is further configured to perform a benefit denial function responsive to removal of the security device from the aerosol generation device.

ENERGY HARVESTING METHODS ON DOOR LOCKS

A method of powering a door lock including a deadbolt and a thumb-turn lever mechanically connected to the deadbolt through one or more mechanical linkages including: converting mechanical energy of the deadbolt being moved to electricity using a nanogenerator; and providing the electricity to at least one of an energy storage device of the door lock or a controller of the door lock, wherein the nanogenerator is located on at least one of the thumb-turn lever, the deadbolt, or the one or more mechanical linkages.

Multipoint lock assembly for a swinging door panel
11746565 · 2023-09-05 · ·

A multipoint lock assembly for a swinging door panel includes a mortise housing that is installed in a mortise along the non-hinged edge of the door panel. A latch operating mechanism and a lock operating mechanism are disposed in the mortise housing. Each of these mechanisms is designed to be operated with a standard rotary operator such as a handle or knob for the latch operating mechanism and a key and/or thumb turn for the lock operating mechanism. The latch operating mechanism is transitionable between left- and right-hand orientations and includes a deadlatch feature that prevents forced back-drive. Turning the key and or thumb turn of the lock operating mechanism extends a deadbolt and extends upper and lower shoot bolts from edges of the door. When extended, the shoot bolts also are secured against forced back-drive by unique mechanism configurations.

A collinear latching and locking system is disclosed. In embodiments, the system includes a strike with a lock bolt disposed at or defined by an end of the strike. The system further includes a latch pawl configured to surround at least a portion of the strike. The strike and the latch pawl are configured to actuate linearly along the same axis. In this regard, the strike and the latch pawl have a collinear configuration and actuation path. The system further includes a latch cam configured to actuate the latch pawl from a latched position to an unlatched position when the latch cam is turned.

MOTORIZED LOCK METHOD AND ASSEMBLY
20230366239 · 2023-11-16 ·

A motorized lock assembly and a method of motorizing a lock installed in a door. The motorized lock assembly including a motorized drive assembly to be mounted to an interior side of the door in driving engagement with a bolt assembly of the lock. The motorized lock assembly also including a communications assembly to receive an instruction from a user and to direct an operation of the motorized drive assembly in response to the instruction from the user.

ELECTRONIC CARGO CONTAINER LOCKING MECHANISM
20230340807 · 2023-10-26 ·

A locking mechanism for a swinging door movable between a door closed position and a door open position and including a latch, the locking mechanism including a bolt housing, a movable bolt slidably mounted in the bolt housing, the movable bolt having a first end and second end, and a spring mounted in the bolt housing between the bolt second end and a portion of the bolt housing and biasing the bolt towards the bolt first end. The locking mechanism also includes a locking plate having a hole therein, the locking plate being slidably mounted in the bolt housing and movable between a bolt unlocked position where the locking plate hole is aligned with the bolt so that the bolt can move freely towards the bolt second end, and a bolt locked position where the locking plate hole is not aligned with the bolt and where the bolt movement toward the bolt second end is limited. The locking mechanism also includes a locking plate moving mechanism for moving the locking plate between its bolt locking position and its bolt unlocked position, the latch engaging the bolt first end and preventing the door from opening if the latch and the bolt first end cannot move past one another.
