Multiple piece construction automotive door hinge

An automotive hinge assembly adapted to facilitate motion of a closure panel relative to a fixed body structure comprises a door component constructed from two press formed angle brackets structurally connected via a pivot pin and adapted to be mounted to a vehicle closure panel, a body component constructed from two press formed angle brackets structurally connected via a simple formed feature and the pivot pin and adapted to be mounted to a vehicle body structure, such that the pivot pin structurally assembles the two hinge components, facilitates relative rotary motion between them and structurally connects the multiple press formed angle brackets so that the resulting assembly achieves a much higher material efficiency than the prior art with an associated significant cost reduction.

A door includes a rectangular panel having a first face, a second face, and two pairs of opposing edges, in which the edges of each pair of edges are parallel and in which a first pair of edges is longer than a second pair of edges. The rectangular panel includes a layered composite material, in which a first layer of the composite material has a positive Poisson's ratio (PPR) and a second layer of the composite material is disposed in contact with the first layer and that includes a material having a negative Poisson's ratio (NPR). The door includes a hinge including plates joined together by a joint, in which a first one of the plates is attached to a first one of the edges of the first pair of edges and in which a second one of the plates extends beyond the first one of the edges. The door also includes a handle opening defined through a thickness of the rectangular panel.

MAGNETIC POSITIONING HINGE FOR HORIZONTAL DOOR ASSEMBLY
20240301732 · 2024-09-12 ·

An integrated magnetic catch used to hold a horizontal hinged oven door open at a selected set partially open position. A pin and knuckle assembly is used to hold the two plates together and acts as a pivot point. Attached to a stationary plate is a positioning member comprising a housing containing a magnetic material. This positioning member is formed having a preset angle that correlates with the degree that the door is to be opened. When the door is opened and pivoted the first plate of the rotating hinge makes contact with the second plate of the rotating hinge having a positioning member affixed thereto and the magnetic force holds the door open at a selected angle.

The present invention provides an encapsulated flexible hinge that is particularly suited for use as an original part or as a replacement hinge on a cooler. The encapsulated flexible hinge is comprised of a flexible woven central reinforcement member having a rubber or polymer coating that has been forced through the reinforcement member to create an outer and an inner rubber coating that encapsulates the reinforcement member. In another embodiment, the inner and outer coating is comprised of the same or two different materials that are vulcanized together after being extruded on either side of the reinforcement member. The encapsulated flexible hinge may take on various shapes, and can be cut into a specific shape if need be.

HINGE SET

Examples of a hinge set for used for mounting a protractible component of a device are described herein. In an example, the hinge set comprises a support hinge and a guide hinge, each having a first end and a second end. The first end of the support hinge is to pivotably couple to the protractible component and the second end of the support hinge is pivotably coupled to a frame of the device. Further, the first end of the guide hinge is to guide the protractile component and the second end of the guide hinge is to pivotably couple to the frame.

SURGICAL TABLE WITH PATIENT SUPPORT HAVING FLEXIBLE INNER FRAME SUPPORTED ON RIGID OUTER FRAME

A surgical table comprising a base and a patient support supported between opposed ends of the base, each opposed end including a pitch/roll assembly. The base is configured such that the patient support can be rolled and pitched relative to the opposed ends via the pitch/roll assemblies such that the roll axis of each pitch/roll assembly remains coaxial regardless of how the patient support is pitched or rolled relative to the base. The patient support includes an outer frame and an inner frame supported on, and displaceable relative to, the outer frame. The inner frame is further articulating about, and relative to, itself. The outer frame is rigid in that it does not change configurations.

Method of making an appliance cabinet

An appliance cabinet may be made having at least a first metallic tub, and a mounting bracket by which a component of the appliance may be mounted to the cabinet. The bracket and the first metallic tub may be juxtaposed. The bracket may be attached to the first metallic tub by moving one of a portion of the first metallic tub or the bracket at a speed great enough to induce plastic flow of the portion of the first metallic tub about a portion of the bracket.
