Obtaining Inelastic Spectra Free of Detector Born Gamma Rays Induced by Neutrons
In an embodiment, a method includes receiving a first measurement of gamma rays via a detector during a first period of time, receiving a second measurement of gamma rays via the detector during a second period of time, removing the second measurement from the first measurement to produce an inelastic spectrum, determining a spectral slope from the inelastic spectrum, determining a scaling factor based on the spectral slope, determining a spectral shape associated with the detector, determining a detector-induced spectrum by applying the scaling factor to the spectral shape, and removing the detector-induced spectrum from the inelastic spectrum to produce a clean inelastic spectrum.
DOWN THE HOLE DRILLING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR DRILLING ROCK
A down the hole rock drilling machine and a method of drilling rock. The drilling machine includes a reciprocating piston, which has a sleeve-like configuration. Inside a central opening of the piston is arranged one or more fluid passages for conveying pressurized fluid during the work cycle of an impact device of the drill machine.
EXPENDABLE HOLLOW CARRIER FABRICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
Embodiments of the present disclosure include a method for fabricating a perforating gun including forming an expendable hollow carrier (EHC) via a drawing process. The method also includes determining a wall thickness of the EHC is above a threshold. The method includes machining a coupling component to at least one end of the EHC. The method further includes installing perforating components within an interior of the EHC.
Fluid and gas separator
A separator for separating gas from a fluid mixture in a production stream of a well. The separator includes an outer tube and an inner tube positioned concentrically with the outer tube. The production stream is directed through the outer tube and into a space between a well casing of the well and the outer tube where gas in the production stream can separate from fluid in the production stream. The separated fluid is then directed through the inner tube to a pump.
Percussive Drill String Assemblies And Systems And Methods Of Using Same
A percussive drill string assembly including a drill bit and a drill rod. The drill bit has a body having: a circumferential wall; a crown extending distally from the circumferential wall; and a threaded portion extending proximally from the circumferential wall. The threaded portion has an outer surface that defines at least one thread having a tapered thread profile. The drill rod has a box end portion having an inner surface that defines: a receptacle configured to receive the threaded portion of the bit; and at least one thread having a tapered profile complementary to the tapered thread profile of the threaded portion of the bit.
Modified surface properties of percussion tools used in downhole drilling
A system and method of fabricating a percussion tool that includes one or more surfaces modified using the ferritic nitrocarburization process. The percussion tool includes a piston positioned in sliding contact within a casing. The piston includes an inner wall and an outer wall, where the inner wall defines a passageway extending longitudinally therethrough. The outer wall is positioned in close fitting relationship with an internal surface of the casing. One or more surfaces of at least one of the casing's internal surface and/or the piston's outer wall are modified using the ferritic nitrocarburization process.
ROCK BREAKING DEVICE
A rock breaking device and a method of monitoring a condition of a tool of a rock breaking device is provided. The rock breaking device includes a frame, a tool, a device for generating stress waves in the tool, measuring means for measuring the stress wave propagating in the tool and at least one computing unit for monitoring a condition of the tool on the basis of the measured stress wave. The at least one computing unit is configured to determine a condition of the tool on the basis of a time of propagation of at least one reflected stress wave component of the stress wave and at least one additional property of the same reflected stress wave component.

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL SLEEVE COMPLETION SYSTEM WITH RETURN AND REVERSE FLUID PATH
Provided is a multi-functional well completion apparatus and method of operation thereof that offers the ability, in a single trip and with limited running tool manipulation, to perform a sand control frac or other fluid stimulation operation and reverse out operations that has improved reverse out flow rates. Furthermore, a combination of dropped balls and hydraulic pressure open one or more sleeves for selective access to a plurality of isolated zones. Additionally, a combination of concentric pipe and internal flow paths creates a reverse flow path. This reverse flow path provides a live annulus during treating, the ability to take returns, and the ability to reverse excess proppant from the wellbore.
Drill string with bend resistant coupling
A drill string rod forms part of a drill string having one end configured with a male spigot portion to be received within a corresponding rod female sleeve end. To minimize stress concentrations within the threaded male and female coupling, the male spigot is configured with a large diameter or cross-sectional area being at least equal to the cross sectional area or diameter of the main length section.
