The device includes a housing containing an impact-generating mechanism for generating the pressure waves and a connector for connecting the housing to a conveyor for transporting the device to any desired location within the well or the wellbore. The device may be used for a number of downhole applications such as cleaning perforations, fracturing processes, vibration of a casing to prevent fluid flow in a cemented annulus, hydraulic jar operations for freeing stuck downhole objects, generating data to optimize pumping parameters and as an enhancement to percussion drilling techniques.
Modular downhole generator
An modular apparatus for generating electrical power in a borehole penetrating the earth includes a body comprising first and second mechanical connectors at opposing ends and first and second electrical connectors at the opposing ends, the mechanical connectors and the electrical connectors being configured to connect with the same type of corresponding connectors on another modular apparatus when the modular apparatus and the another modular apparatus are stacked together. The modular apparatus further includes: an electrical generator having a rotor and stator in mechanical communication with the first and second mechanical connectors and in electrical communication with the first and second electrical connectors; and a turbine wheel coupled to or integrated with the rotor and comprising one or more turbine blades that are configured to interact with fluid flowing through the borehole causing the turbine wheel to rotate and the rotor to rotate in order to generate the electrical power.
Seal with retaining profile
A valve seat for a ball valve. The valve seat having a valve seat body with a circumferential concave seating surface configured to mate with a curvature of the valve ball. A seal pocket formed within the valve seat body, the seal pocket having (i) an throat formed in the concave seating surface, (ii) an outer pocket sidewall, and (iii) an inner pocket sidewall. A retaining groove positioned below the throat on either the outer pocket sidewall or the inner pocket sidewall and a flexible seal element shaped for positioning in the seal pocket. The seal element includes (i) an extended lip configured to rest within the retaining groove when the seal element is seated in the seal pocket, and (ii) a sealing face with an upper end laying below the valve seat's concave seating surface and a mid-portion extending upward above a curvature path of the concave seating surface.
Ringing reduction in a nuclear magnetic resonance logging tool
A nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) logging tool configured to be positioned in a borehole created in a subsurface formation. The NMR logging tool includes a magnet to induce a magnetic field in the subsurface formation, a transmission line, and a first shield positioned between the magnet and the transmission line. The NMR logging tool includes a transmitter and an antenna coupled to the transmitter by the transmission line. The antenna is to transmit a radio frequency (RF) magnetic field into the subsurface formation in response to the transmitter supplying power by the transmission line.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR A VENT WITHIN A TOOL POSITIONED WITHIN A WELLBORE
Utilizing a fluid flow rate within a tool to close and open a vent extending through a circumference of the tool. The vent may be positioned above a packer pair that is configured to extend across an annulus. The tool may include a vent, sliding sleeve, adjustable member, and plunger.
Data quality monitoring and control systems and methods
A system for monitoring data quality in a drilling operation includes a controller and a plurality of data sources configured to provide data to the controller. The controller is configured to receive data from a plurality of data sources during a drilling operation; apply data quality rules to the received data; calculate a score for each data source of the plurality of data sources based on adherence of the received data for that data source to the data quality rules; compare the calculated scores for the plurality of data sources to determine which calculated scores meet or exceed a threshold score; receive a selection of one of the plurality of data sources having a calculated score that meets or exceeds the threshold score; and use the data from the selected data source. Methods and non-transitory machine-readable media for monitoring data quality are also provided.
Down the hole drilling machine and method for drilling rock
A down the hole rock drilling machine and a method of drilling rock. The drilling machine includes a reciprocating piston, which has a sleeve-like configuration. Inside a central opening of the piston is arranged one or more fluid passages for conveying pressurized fluid during the work cycle of an impact device of the drill machine.
Using polyaminated fatty acid-based oil compositions for controlling dust from additive particles
Application of polyaminated fatty acid-based oil compositions to additive particles to control dusting. A method reducing an amount of dust produced during transfer of additive particles in well operations may comprise providing treated additive particles comprising additive particles and a polyaminated fatty acid-based oil composition disposed on a surface of at least portion of the particles, wherein the polyaminated fatty acid-based oil composition comprises a polyaminated fatty acid and an organic solvent. The method may further comprise mixing components comprising the treated additive particles and a base fluid to provide a treatment fluid. The method may further comprise introducing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation.
CHARACTERIZING THE BASE OIL OF A DRILLING MUD FOR COMPATIBILITY WITH SUBSEQUENT SUBTERRANEAN OPERATIONS
Methods and systems for determining whether a base oil for use in drilling muds will be compatible with cement during subsequent cementing operations are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include: providing a drilling fluid that includes a base oil; using the drilling fluid to drill at least a portion of a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation; measuring a compositional characteristic of the base oil using one or more analytical tests; determining whether the base oil is a compatible base oil or an incompatible base oil based at least in part on the compositional characteristic of the base oil; injecting an amount of spacer fluid into the wellbore, wherein the amount of spacer fluid is selected based on the determination of whether the base oil is a compatible base oil or an incompatible base oil; and injecting the one or more cementing or completion fluids into the wellbore.
Installing pipeline segments within a conduit
