Methods and compositions for brazing
A method includes disposing a braze material adjacent a first body and a second body; heating the braze material and forming a transient liquid phase; and transforming the transient liquid phase to a solid phase and forming a bond between the first body and the second body. The braze material includes copper, silver, zinc, magnesium, and at least one material selected from the group consisting of nickel, tin, cobalt, iron, phosphorous, indium, lead, antimony, cadmium, and bismuth.
DRILL BIT
A rotary drill bit for directional drilling operations, in which a rotating bit with cutters advances a borehole in the earth invention, provides a smaller radius of curvature to increase drilling efficiency. The rotary drill bit comprises a box connection for connecting the bit to the drill string. The drill bit receives a pin connection that seats adjacent the plenum of the bit to shorten the distance between the bit face and steering tools behind the bit so the drill string can be steered more efficiently.
MODEL BASED TESTING OF ROTATING BOREHOLE COMPONENTS
A method of testing a downhole component configured to be incorporated in a drilling assembly includes generating a mathematical drilling assembly model representing a connecting string as a virtual connecting string and describing a behavior of the connecting string in response to rotation of the drilling assembly, disposing the downhole component at a sample of a formation material, and rotating the downhole component by applying a torque to the downhole component via a torque motor based on the drilling assembly model and a selected rotational rate of a virtual top drive. The method further includes inputting real time measurements of an angular velocity of the downhole component into the drilling assembly model, calculating a target torque corresponding to an amount of torque that would be applied to the downhole component by the virtual connecting string, and adjusting the applied torque from the torque motor to correspond to the target torque.
Process for constructing a well for exploiting a reservoir under a sea-bed or ocean-bed
A process for constructing a well (1) for exploiting an oil or gas reservoir, comprising the following operations: (A) drilling a formation submerged by a water head, at least 3,600 meters deep or more, reaching the formation from the surface of the water with a drilling riser (7), and a drilling tool which passes internally through the drilling riser; and evacuating through the drilling riser (7) at least one of the circulating drilling fluid, the oil or natural gas coming from the formations and the resulting drilling materials. The drilling riser (7) has an external diameter equal to or smaller than 17 inches and reaches a wellhead (3) having an internal diameter equal to or smaller than 18.75 inches, and positioned in correspondence with or close to the seabed submerged which covers the formation.

Electronics for a thin bed array induction logging system
A logging tool electronics system is disclosed with noise minimization features and pulse compression signal processing techniques to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of array induction logging tools. The borehole is radiated with a magnetic field produced by a configurable multi-frequency and/or multi-amplitude sine wave signal stimulus section driving a fully differential single transmitter coil. Received signals from multiple mutually balanced fully differential receiver arrays are processed by receiver signal chains using adaptive algorithms under firmware control. The received signals are used to determine the conductivity and resistivity of the formation surrounding the borehole.
