EMERGENCY DISCONNECT ISOLATION VALVE
An isolation valve system, method, and apparatus are provided that can isolate a wellbore and prevent fluids from exiting the well and prevent seawater from entering the well. The system can be a two-part design in some embodiments where a shear sub is selectively interconnected to a body via shearing screws. A sufficient force on the shear sub destroys the shearing screws and the shear sub is removed from the body. This movement rotates an actuator on the body, which in turn rotates a valve in the body to provide the isolating function during routine operation of a wellbore or during an emergency.
PRODUCTION LOGGING INSTRUMENT
A logging system and method for operating a logging system are typically used in a wellbore. The logging system may include a logging instrument including a rechargeable energy storage and logging electronics, and a cable configured to trickle charge the rechargeable energy storage. The rechargeable energy storage may include an ultracapacitor. The rechargeable energy storage may be trickle charged through the cable from a remote power source.
Mechanical connector utilizing keys to transfer torque
This invention builds up on technical features and on the industry experience with the use of Merlin™ family connectors. In addition to friction, structural means utilized to transfer high torsional loads include keys and may also include: interlocked thread systems, shear pins, dog-clutch teeth and splines, all used in isolation or in arbitrary combinations. Static and fatigue bending load capacities of the connectors remain high, while the axial load capacities may or may not be high, depending on the design requirements. Connectors according to this invention can be built as new, carefully optimized designs. In some cases upgrading existing Merlin™ family connector designs to increase they torque transfer capacities may be also feasible.
METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING PUMPING-INJECTION WELL OF GROUNDWATER RESERVOIR IN DUMP OF OPEN-PIT MINE
The disclosure discloses a method for constructing a pumping-injection well of a groundwater reservoir in a dump of an open-pit mine. The pumping-injection well includes a bottom pipe, intermediate pipes, and a top pipe in sequence from bottom to top connected from bottom to top. The method includes: arranging a rubble barrier around the pumping-injection well, and installing the bottom pipe of the pumping-injection well at a designed position of the pumping-injection well as a center of circle; continuing to install an intermediate pipe on the bottom pipe, and pile up a rubble pile; continuing to stack multiple intermediate pipes, and starting the construction of the groundwater reservoir; discarding discarded materials from the open-pit mine to form a dump; continuing to stack intermediate pipes to build an inverted trapezoidal surface sump around the pumping-injection well; and installing the top pipe and a well cover to form a complete pumping-injection well.

Concentric coiled tubing downline for hydrate remediation
A hydrate remediation system and method utilizing a concentric coiled tubing downline is provided. The concentric coiled tubing downline includes an outer coiled tubing and an inner coiled tubing, the inner coiled tubing disposed within the outer coiled tubing and extending at least partially through the outer coiled tubing. The concentric coiled tubing downline may be deployed from a single surface reel housed on a surface vessel. A bottom hole assembly (BHA) including a subsea connector is disposed at a distal end of the concentric coiled tubing. The subsea connector of the BHA is configured to be connected to the subsea interface that will be depressurized via the concentric coiled tubing downline. The concentric coiled tubing downline may provide two flow paths. Pressurized gas flows down one flow path, and effluent from the hydrate remediation flows up to the surface via the other flow path.
Drill pipe with internal flow check valve
A check valve assembly disposed within a pipe joint. The valve assembly is bounded by a pin end on one side and a liner tube on the other. In a first flow condition, a ball is forced away from the pin end and toward a stop member. The stop member has a geometry to allow fluid flow around the ball and through passageways within the stop when in the first flow condition. In a second flow condition, opposite the first flow condition, the ball is forced toward a tapered seat on the pin end, restricting fluid flow in the second flow condition.
Method and apparatus for a chemical capsule joint
A chemical capsule joint having a chemical capsule filled with a chemical that is to be released into a casing string to which the chemical capsule joint is deployed in a wellbore after an end of the chemical capsule joint if drilled up. The chemical capsule joint allows continuation of cementing operation until an end of the chemical capsule joint is drilled up to release the chemical from the chemical capsule in the chemical capsule joint. The chemical is them freed from the chemical capsule and allowed to leach into production fluids in the casing string to which the chemical capsule joint is deployed in a well bore.
Work String Tubing Connection Restoration
A hardfacing metal composition and method of restoring worn work string tubing by application of a hardfacing metal to the worn regions of the work string tubing.
