Self-orienting selective lockable assembly to regulate subsurface depth and positioning

A well tool to be oriented and secured in a wellbore without the external application of torque, and a well system incorporating the same. After installation of orientation casing and universal latch coupling casing, the self-orienting selective lockable latch well tool is run downhole to the target depth, picked up to free the internal locking mechanism, and then loaded with downhole stress to engage the locking mechanism.

Autonomous tool

A method, system, and apparatus for determining the location of a tool traveling down a wellbore by measuring a first borehole magnetic anomaly with respect to time at two known locations on a tool, comparing the time difference between the two measurements, then calculating the velocity of the tool based on the comparison, then further calculating the distance traveled by the tool in the wellbore based on the velocity calculation, then executing a series of commands at a predetermined location in the wellbore.

Multi-stage object drop frac assembly with filtration media and method

A multi-stage object drop frac assembly that includes a fracture subassembly is configured for disposal in a well zone. The assembly includes a plurality of filtration media stages configured for disposal in the same well zone. A plurality of valves, one of the plurality of valves being associated with each of the plurality of filtration media stages is a part of the assembly and the plurality of valves are openable simultaneously in response to the same event.

Gravity actuated connection mechanism for high pressure wellhead applications

A pressurizable assembly which comprises first and second assemblies. The first assembly has a plurality of cam grooves while the second assembly is size and shaped to intimately receive and mate with the first assembly. The second assembly has a connection member a plurality of radially mounted locking pin mechanisms for interacting with one of the plurality of spaced apart cam grooves. Axial movement of the second assembly, toward and away from the first assembly, causes the plurality of locking pin mechanisms to follow along the cam grooves to an intermediate locking position which locks the second assembly with the first assembly, while a subsequent axial movement of the second assembly, toward and away from the first assembly, causes the plurality of locking pin mechanisms to follow along the plurality of cam grooves and disengage the second assembly from the first assembly.

System for setting a lower completion and cleaning a casing above the lower completion

A downhole system includes a lower completion having at least one tubular including a first end and a second end terminating at a shoe. The at least one tubular defining a flow path. A packer is arranged at the first end. A fluid loss control valve (FLCV) is arranged between the packer and the shoe. A screen system is arranged between the FLCV and the shoe. The screen system includes a screen and a non-mechanically operated flow control valve that selectively isolates the flow path from formation fluids passing through the screen. A wellbore clean out string is insertable into the lower completion. The wellbore clean out string includes a selectively activated casing cleaner and a setting tool. The selectively activated casing cleaner is spaced from the setting tool.

ANCHOR FOR TOOL, METHOD FOR MANAGING A BOREHOLE, AND SYSTEM

A downhole tool including a body having a function relevant to a selected environment, an electroactive polymer (EAP) anchor disposed with the body and configured to expand, upon application of an electric signal to the EAP, into loaded contact with a tubular member in which the downhole tool is to be set during use. A method for managing a borehole including running a tool to a selected depth in the borehole, applying an electric signal to the EAP, and anchoring the tool with the EAP. A borehole system including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, a tool disposed within or as a part of the string.

Retrievable seal guide

A retrievable seal guide (RSG) for installing a seal stem in a polished bore receptacle. The RSG has an outer grapple. Inside the grapple is a mandrel. At the end of the RSG is a bullet nose guide. The mandrel is spring loaded with a spring placed under the grapple Near the rear end of the guide is a plug with an o-ring. Note that the bullet nose has an opening formed in it. A channel is also formed down the length of the device. Note too that for tight formations of non-perforated liners the plug can be replaced with a stainless-steel ball that acts as a check valve. As the RSG is pulled out, the guide is pulled back, which compresses the spring forcing the mandrel back until a cam clears the collapsible fingers on the grapple, which allows the RSG to be withdrawn.

Downhole tractor with wheel assembly

A downhole tractor assembly operable in a wellbore that includes a tractor body and a tractor wheel assembly. The tractor wheel assembly includes a tractor wheel with teeth around a circumference of the wheel and grooves between adjacent teeth. The grooves include a profile in a plane parallel with the axis of the wheel. Also, each tooth includes an outer face with face grooves on each side of the outer face that extend less than across the wheel.
