SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATION OF ELECTRICAL POWER AT A DRILLING RIG
Embodiments of systems and methods for generating power in the vicinity of a drilling rig are disclosed. During a drilling operation, heat generated by drilling fluid flowing from a borehole, exhaust from an engine, and/or fluid from an engine's water (or other fluid) jacket, for example, may be utilized by corresponding heat exchangers to facilitate heat transfer to a working fluid. The heated working fluid may cause an ORC unit to generate electrical power.
Downhole monitoring of hydraulic equipment
A technique facilitates use of sensor data, e.g. pressure data, associated with hydraulic control lines. According to an embodiment, a well string is deployed in a borehole and comprises a tool coupled with a hydraulic control line and operated via hydraulic inputs delivered through the hydraulic control line. Additionally, a sensor is coupled to the hydraulic control line to monitor pressure in the hydraulic control line. The sensor may be located permanently downhole proximate the tool. A control module is configured to collect data from the sensor and to compare the data to a baseline pressure profile associated with the tool. The sensor data may be used to determine characteristics related to operation of the tool.
Earth modeling methods using machine learning
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to earth modeling using machine learning. A method includes receiving detected data at a first depth point along a wellbore, providing at least a first subset of the detected data as first input values to a machine learning model, and receiving first output values from the machine learning model based on the first input values. The method includes receiving additional detected data at a second depth point along the wellbore, providing at least a second subset of the additional detected data as second input values to the machine learning model, and receiving second output values from the machine learning model based on the second input values. The method includes combining the first output values at the first depth point and the second output values at the second depth point to generate an updated model of the wellbore, the updated model comprising an earth model.
System with a ground drilling device and an input device and a method for controlling an operation of a ground drilling device
A system comprising a ground drilling device with a control device, the system including an input device functionally coupled to the control device for entering at least one parameter for operating the ground drilling device. The at least one parameter may include a parameter that causes the ground drilling device to start drilling. The input device may be configured as a remote control with a feedback device, which outputs a variable that a user can perceive i) tactilely, ii) visually, and/or iii) auditorily, and that depends on a) the operation of the ground drilling device, b) the operating state of the ground drilling device, and/or c) the signal of a detection device.

DOWNHOLE TOOL MEMBER COMPRISING A BRANCHED POLY(HYDROXYACID)
The invention relates to downhole tools comprising members comprising branched poly(hydroxyacid) polymers provided with improved degradation rate when in contact with water.
Solder fatigue modeling
The present disclosure models the testing of oilfield electronic equipment that operate in high temperature downhole environments (possibly with large vibrational loading) in order to quantify the damage to the electronic equipment over its expected operational lifetime. The simulated downhole environment is complex and includes coupled random vibration and thermal cycling followed by repeated shock at high temperature. In embodiments, the proposed methods and system measure non-linear damage accumulation of the electronic equipment in this simulated downhole environment.

Actuator, method and system
An actuator for another tool includes a housing that is either modular and attachable to the tool or may be incorporated into the another tool. Within the housing is a biasing member that may be retained in a compressed condition by a retainer. A trigger holding the retainer, the trigger having a trigger head anchorable to the housing, a separation neck having a helical groove therein and a trigger body, the body being connected to the retainer, the trigger being defeatable on command.
DRILLING RIG POWER SUPPLY BUS MANAGEMENT
A power system and method for the adaptive power control of a drilling rig. While operating the internal combustion engine in its efficient operating range, unrequired mechanical power is converted to electrical power for storage, or use via the electrical bus on the rig. When the internal combustion engine is not required to provide mechanical or electrical power it is deactivated, and then reactivated—electrical storage on the system in the meantime providing electrical power to the bus as required. The power supply and management system could be retroactively fitted to an existing drilling rig by the incorporation of a generator and electrical storage device thereon. The system and method of the present invention allow for the optimized use of combustion-based power on a drilling rig while minimizing environmental emissions from the idle running of the at least one internal combustion engine.
