A subsurface representation may define subsurface configuration of a subsurface region. A grid connectivity graph for the subsurface representation may include (1) nodes that represent cells within the subsurface representation, and (2) edges between the nodes that represent connectivity between the cells within the subsurface representation. The grid connectivity graph may be filtered to remove edges that do not satisfy a connectivity criterion. The filtered grid connectivity graph may be used to compute a linear solver preconditioner that improves the performance of the subsurface simulation.

A method of estimating reservoir properties is disclosed. The method includes obtaining downhole pressure data during a drill stem test in a wellbore penetrating a reservoir, computing a first linearity measure of a first diagnostic plot, wherein the first diagnostic plot represents a first dependency of the downhole pressure data on a linear-scale with respect to inverse time on a linear-scale, determining, based at least on the first linearity measure, data sufficiency of the drill stem test, and generating, from the downhole pressure data and based at least on the data sufficiency, an estimation of the reservoir properties.

A method for operating a kerogen-rich unconventional gas reservoir characterized by there being multiple hydraulically-fractured wells drilled thereinto comprises: recovering a methane-containing gas from a first hydraulically-fractured well drilled into the gas reservoir, steam-methane reforming the recovered methane-containing gas to yield a hydrogen gas and an inorganic carbon-containing gas, injecting at least a portion of the hydrogen gas into a second hydraulically-fractured well drilled into the gas reservoir, and injecting at least a portion of the inorganic carbon-containing gas into a third hydraulically-fractured well drilled into the gas reservoir.

HORIZONTAL WELL PRODUCTION METHOD WITH UNIFORM FLOW

The invention addresses to a flow uniformization process for the entire useful life of a horizontal well, which associates the use of divergent sand containment screens or divergent liner. For the manufacture of divergent liners, flow simulations are carried out via computational fluid dynamics as a function of the dimensions of the horizontal well, outer diameter and length of the liner, static pressure, expected flow pressure, expected oil flow rate, oil viscosity, API degree, planned length for the horizontal well. These simulations simulate the area open to flow along the horizontal section. Additionally, well stimulation methods, scale removers and, optionally, sand containment are used.

DETERMINING SWEET SPOTS AND RANKING OF A BASIN

A method for determining sweet spots in a subterranean formation includes drilling a plurality of wellbores in the subterranean formation using a drill tool; lowering a logging tool in each of the plurality of wellbores to collect measurements; calculating a reservoir quality index parameter for each wellbore of the plurality of wellbores based on petrophysical logs; creating a reservoir quality index map using the petrophysical logs; calculating a linear flow index parameter for each wellbore of the plurality of wellbores based on production data provided by the petrophysical logs; correlating the reservoir quality index parameter and the linear flow index parameter for each wellbore of the plurality of wellbores to locate sweet spots; and ranking a basin based on the located sweet spots and the correlated parameters.

A means to generate increasing geological permeability to produce greater volumes of various subsurface geological resources when compared to the current conventional production methods is disclosed. The means include a Pulsed Power Plasma Emitter System capable of substantially increasing the available electrical energy for use in high power compression surge currents that can be discharged and transmitted to power a simplified downhole Plasma Emitter Tool subsystem. The simplified downhole Plasma Emitter Tool sub-system is capable of generating a broad range of precisely controlled magnetohydrodynamic plasma spark discharges that produce a broad range of high power electromagnetic, acoustic and hydrodynamic surge waves. These powerful surge waves are generated at energy and power levels that are necessary to physically modify all types of geological formation permeability and to energize the mobilization of various subsurface fluids and fluidized resources.
