Horizontal directional drilling rig with health monitoring of components

A horizontal directional drilling rig is described. The rig can be entirely electrically powered. The performance (or “health”) and/or the life cycle of individual components of the rig can be electronically monitored. This permits identification of specific individual components that are performing in a substandard manner or are not performing properly or have reached the end of their life cycle. Individual improperly performing components or components at the end of their life cycle can thus be specifically identified. The improperly performing component(s) or components at the end of their life cycle can then be replaced. In some embodiments, when a component is identified as performing improperly, the operation of other, properly functioning components of the rig can be modified accordingly to account for the improperly performing component.

Rare-earth halide scintillating material and application thereof

The present invention provides a rare-earth halide scintillating material and application thereof. The rare-earth halide scintillating material has a chemical formula of RE.sub.aCe.sub.bX.sub.3, wherein RE is a rare-earth element La, Gd, Lu or Y, X is one or two of halogens Cl, Br and I, 0≤a≤1.1, 0.01≤b≤1.1, and 1.0001≤a+b≤1.2. By taking a +2 valent rare-earth halide having the same composition as a dopant to replace a heterogeneous alkaline earth metal halide in the prior art for doping, the rare-earth halide scintillating material is relatively short of a halogen ion. The apparent valence state of a rare-earth ion is between +2 and +3. The rare-earth halide scintillating material belongs to non-stoichiometric compounds, but still retains a crystal structure of an original stoichiometric compound, and has more excellent energy resolution and energy response linearity than the stoichiometric compound.

Data acquisition systems

A master data acquisitions system is provided. A trigger emits a sync signal to be sensed by each of a plurality of data acquisition systems. A controller is communicatively coupled with each of the plurality of data acquisition systems. The controller receives data from each of the data acquisition systems. The data for each of the plurality of data acquisition systems include the sensed sync signal. The controller synchronizes the data from each of the plurality of data acquisition systems by aligning the sensed sync signal for each of the plurality of data acquisition systems.

Real-time estimation of reservoir porosity from mud gas data

Systems and methods include a method for generating a real-time reservoir porosity log. Historical gas-porosity data is received from previously-drilled and logged wells. The historical gas-porosity data identifies relationships between gas measurements obtained during drilling and reservoir porosity determined after drilling. A gas-porosity model is trained using machine learning and the historical gas-porosity data. Real-time gas measurements are obtained during drilling of a new well. A real-time reservoir porosity log is generated for the new well using the gas-porosity model and real-time gas measurements.

Electrical generator with an electrical bus connectable to different electrical power sources and different loads

An electrical generator that is configured to simultaneously output different types of electrical power so that electrically powered components that require different types of electrical power can be simultaneously powered by the electrical generator. The electrical generator can be used at any location where electrically powered components that require different types of electrical power are utilized. Instead of or in addition to outputting different types of electrical power, the electrical generator can also be configured to output at least one type of electrical power as well as a cooling liquid for use in cooling an external heat generating component.

INFORMATION EXTRACTION FROM DAILY DRILLING REPORTS USING MACHINE LEARNING

A system and method are provided for extracting information regarding a drill site including forming one or more documents having one or more raw comments regarding a well site. Raw data may be extracted from the one or more documents to produce extracted raw data. The extracted raw date may be pre-processed by removing ambiguity, artifacts, and/or formatting errors from the one or more raw comments to produce pre-processed data. Topics data may be extracted from the pre-processed data using a natural language processing (NLP) algorithm to produce extracted topics data. Measurement data may also be extracted from the pre-processed data using the NLP algorithm to produce extracted measurement data. The extracted topics data and the extracted measurement data may be aggregated to form a set of discrete data points, such as calibration points, per comment to produce aggregated data and one more calibration points may be identified from the aggregated data. The results of the one or more calibration points may then be presented.

THROUGH-TUBING, CASED-HOLE SEALED MATERIAL DENSITY EVALUATION USING GAMMA RAY MEASUREMENTS

Through-tubing, cased-hole sealed material density can be evaluated using gamma ray measurements. Density evaluation comprises detecting, by at least one detector positioned within a casing of a wellbore including a sealing material positioned between the casing and a subsurface formation, electromagnetic radiation generated in response to nuclear radiation being emitted outward toward the subsurface formation, determining an electromagnetic radiation count based on the detected electromagnetic radiation, selecting at least one of a first reference material having a density that is less than a density of the sealing material and a second reference material having a density that is greater than the density of the sealing material, adjusting the electromagnetic radiation count based on the density of the at least one of the first reference material and the second reference material, and determining a density of the sealing material based on the adjusted electromagnetic radiation count.

Methods of Increasing Efficiency of Plunger Lift Operations

Methods of increasing efficiency of plunger lift operations and hydrocarbon wells that perform the methods are disclosed herein. The methods include monitoring an acoustic output from the hydrocarbon well. The methods also include calculating a plunger speed of a plunger of the hydrocarbon well as the plunger travels toward a surface region and calculating a discharge duration of a liquid discharge time period during which liquid is discharged from the hydrocarbon well. The methods further include correlating the plunger speed and the discharge duration to a discharge volume of liquid discharged from the hydrocarbon well
