A method may include removing a portion of a base component adjacent to a damaged portion of the base component to define a repair portion of the base component. The base component may include a cobalt- or nickel-based superalloy, and the repair portion of the base component may include a through-hole extending from a first surface of the base component to a second surface of the base component. The method also may include forming a braze sintered preform to substantially reproduce a shape of the through-hole. The braze sintered preform may include a Ni- or Co-based alloy. The method additionally may include placing the braze sintered preform in the through-hole and heating at least the braze sintered preform to cause the braze sintered preform to join to the repair portion of the base component and change a microstructure of the braze sintered preform to a brazed and diffused microstructure.

Method for producing a metal bladed element of an aircraft turbine engine

A method for producing a metal bladed element of a turbine engine, in particular of an aircraft, includes steps of producing the bladed element, depositing a coating made of wear-proof material on at least one portion of the bladed element and verifying, preferably visually, the conformity of the bladed element. Verifying the conformity of the bladed element includes implementing a verification element on the bladed element. The bladed element is configured according to a conformity threshold value to conceal a non-conformity of the coating, if the non-conformity has at least one dimension less than the threshold value, and to show at least one portion of this non-conformity if the at least one dimension is greater than the threshold value.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REPAIRING HIGH-TEMPERATURE GAS TURBINE BLADES

A blade for a gas turbine includes a removed portion space, and further includes an airfoil portion defining the removed portion space, the airfoil portion formed from a base material, and a replacement component formed to fill the removed portion space. The replacement component is formed from a material that includes 50%-80% base material, 0%-30% braze material, and 0%-8% aluminum. A braze joint is formed between the airfoil portion and the replacement component to attach the replacement component to the airfoil portion and fill the removed portion space.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF PRETREATING AND ADDITIVELY PRINTING ON WORKPIECES
20220227061 · 2022-07-21 ·

A method of additively printing an extension segment on a workpiece includes pretreating a workpiece-interface of the workpiece using an energy beam emitted from an energy beam source of an additive manufacturing machine, providing a pretreated workpiece-interface having received a pretreatment, with the pretreatment remediating an aberrant feature of the workpiece and/or the workpiece-interface. The method further includes additively printing an extension segment on the pretreated workpiece-interface using an energy beam emitted from the energy beam source of the additive manufacturing machine. The aberrant feature includes one or more aberrant regions of the workpiece-interface having been determined from a digital representation of the workpiece-interface captured by a vision system. The pretreatment includes heat-conditioning at least a portion of the workpiece-interface including the one or more aberrant regions of the workpiece-interface.

GAS TURBINE BLADE REPAIR METHOD AND GAS TURBINE BLADE

A repair method for a gas turbine blade comprises: a step of removing a thermal barrier coating to expose at least part of a base material of the gas turbine blade; a first etching step of etching the exposed base material; a first identification step of identifying a base material deterioration layer that is harder than the base material from the etched base material; a first removal step of removing the identified base material deterioration layer if the base material deterioration layer is identified in the first identification step; and a step of applying a thermal barrier coating to the exposed base material after it is determined that there is no base material deterioration layer in the first identification step, or after the base material deterioration layer is removed in the first removal step.
