SEAL SYSTEM HAVING SILICON LAYER AND BARRIER LAYER
A seal system includes a ceramic component, a metallic component, a silicon-containing layer, and a barrier layer. The ceramic component has a first surface region that defines a first surface roughness. The metallic component is situated adjacent to the first surface region and has a second surface region facing the first surface region. The silicon-containing layer is on the first surface region of the ceramic component and has a contact surface that defines a second surface roughness which is less than the first surface roughness. The barrier layer is on the metallic component and in contact with the silicon-containing layer and serves to limit interaction between silicon of the silicon-containing layer and the metallic component. The barrier layer includes at least one of alumina or MCrAlY.
SPLIT POLYMER LABYRINTH SEAL ASSEMBLY
A split labyrinth seal assembly having split stationary and rotary sealing elements, and a split clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism is configured to secure the rotary element to a rotating shaft. The rotary element can also include an integrally formed valve element that moves between a contacting and a non-contacting position in response to rotation of the shaft. The rotary element and the clamping mechanism can have surface features associated therewith to promote nesting between the components.
TURBINE RIM SEAL WITH LIP
A turbine section has: a rotor rotatable about a central axis, the rotor having blades each protruding radially outwardly from a platform relative to the central axis; a stator having vanes each protruding radially outwardly from a shroud; a rim seal between the platform and the shroud, the rim seal having: an axial overlap between the platform and the shroud, and a lip protruding in a direction having a radial component relative to the central axis from one of the platform and the shroud toward the other of the platform and the shroud, the lip axially overlapping the other of the platform and the shroud, the lip having a radial height such that a radial gap remains between the lip and the other of the platform and the shroud when the turbine section is in operation.
MOUNTING OF A SEALING RING ON AN AERONAUTICAL TURBINE ENGINE
The invention proposes an aeronautical turbine engine assembly comprising an upstream casing (55) to which guide blading (48a) is fastened, and a downstream casing (58) to which a sealing element (62) provided with an abradable material for rotor blading is fastened. This assembly further comprises a shroud ring (66) placed between the upstream casing and the downstream casing and fastening means (68) for detachably fastening the shroud ring. In order to be fastened to the upstream casing, the guide blading (48a) of the turbine engine is mounted on a downstream hook (480b) of the upstream casing, without being hooked onto the shroud ring (66), and the downstream casing (58) has an upstream hook with which the sealing element (62) is engaged in order to be fastened to the downstream casing, or the shroud ring has an upstream hook on which the sealing element (62) is mounted so as to be fastened to the downstream casing.
SEAL FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A sealing apparatus for a gas turbine engine includes: a first component; a second component positioned in proximity to the first component such that cavity is defined between the first and second components; a resilient seal disposed in the cavity so as to block gas flow between the first and second components, the resilient seal having a first contact surface contacting the first component and a second contact surface contacting the second component; and wherein the resilient seal is configured so as to produce a rolling movement in response to relative movement of the first and second components.
Brush seal with sliding backing plate
A brush seal is provided that includes a top plate, a back plate, and a bristle pack. The bristle pack is secured at a joint between the top plate and the back plate. The bristle pack includes a first bristle set extending from the joint, a second bristle set extending from the joint, and a sliding backing plate. The sliding backing plate includes a sliding portion and a support portion. The sliding portion is disposed contiguous with the second bristle set. The support portion has an inner face and a support face. The inner face is in contact with a distal end of the second bristle set. The support face is configured to support at least a portion of the first bristle set. The sliding backing plate is configured to slide relative to the second bristle set.

BATHTUB DAMPER SEAL ARRANGEMENT FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A damper seal for a gas turbine engine includes a damper body extending in a first direction between a leading edge portion and a trailing edge portion, extending in a second direction between first and second sidewalls, and extending in a third direction between a convex outer damper face and a concave inner damper face. The inner damper face establishes a damper pocket. The leading and trailing edge portions slope inwardly from opposite ends of the damper body to bound the damper pocket in the first direction. The first and second sidewalls extend from the leading edge portion to the trailing edge portion and slope inwardly from opposite sides of the damper body to bound the damper pocket in the second direction. The outer damper face is pre-formed according to a first predetermined geometry that substantially corresponds to a second predetermined geometry of a platform undersurface bounding a neck pocket of an airfoil. A method of damping for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.
Face seal arrangement
A seal assembly includes an annular seal support, and an annular seal housing operably connected to the seal support. The seal housing includes a first axial surface facing away from the seal support, and a second axial surface opposite the first axial surface. A seal is located at the first axial surface. One or more first springs extend between the seal support and the second axial surface to urge the seal housing away from the seal support, and one or more second springs are located at the first axial surface to urge the seal housing toward the seal support.
