Systems and methods for turbomachine control based upon magnetostrictive sensor measurements are provided. A turbomachine (e.g., a compressor) can be instrumented with at a sensor configured to measure an operating parameter, and a magnetostrictive sensor configured to acquire a torsional measurement (e.g., torsional vibration and/or torque) of a turbomachine shaft. An analyzer can receive the operating parameter measurement and torsional measurement and determine an updated operating parameter limit and/or an updated exclusion zone based upon the torsional measurement for control of the operating parameter.

Examples include a panel including a window, the window to define an aperture for a sensor; a platform to mount the sensor, the platform including a first pinion; a first stepper motor to move the first pinion about a first arched rack; a gimbal body including the first arched rack and a second pinion; and a second stepper motor to move the second pinion about a second arched rack, the second arched rack positioned orthogonally to the first arched rack.

ELECTROMECHANICAL INSTALLATION FOR AN AIRCRAFT WITH A TURBOGENERATOR, METHOD FOR EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN OF AN AIRCRAFT TURBOGENERATOR AND CORRESPONDING COMPUTER PROGRAM

An aircraft with an electrical network including electrical subnetworks; a turbo generator including a gas turbine, an electricity generator with permanent magnets having phase groups respectively connected to the electrical subnetworks, and, for each phase group, an isolation device; and a control device designed to detect a short circuit in at least one of the phase groups, each phase group in which a short circuit is detected being described as defective and each other phase group being described as healthy and, in response to the detection of the short circuit, to disconnect this defective phase group from its associated electrical subnetwork and to command the shutdown of the gas turbine. The control device is also designed, in response to the detection of the short circuit, to keep each healthy phase group connected to its electrical subnetwork.

ESTIMATING DYNAMIC THRUST OR SHAFT POWER OF AN ENGINE
20170370790 · 2017-12-28 ·

A measuring system is provided that includes a turbine engine thrust estimator that computes “virtual measurements” of dynamic engine thrust and other parameters of interest from test cell data in a very short amount of time. The measuring system ‘tunes’ a user's engine model, in a numerical propulsion system simulation, by optimizing system biases and health parameters to match the sensor outputs of a set of steady state data points across the operating range. The tuned model is then utilized by the measuring system to create a constant gain extended Kalman filter that is added directly within a code of the numerical propulsion system simulation. Results, including thrust, from the numerical propulsion system simulation with Kalman filter are then presented as ‘actual’ corrected data.
