Systems and Method For Use In Servicing A Machine
A system for use in servicing a machine. The system includes a tubular body including a longitudinal axis, a tip end, a dispensing nozzle defined at the tip end, and an interior channel in flow communication with the dispensing nozzle. The tubular body is configured to be flexible. An actuator is configured to selectively modify an orientation of the tubular body, and a reservoir is in flow communication with the interior channel. The reservoir is configured to supply a maintenance fluid to the tubular body for discharge from the dispensing nozzle.

Deposited material structure with integrated component
A method for forming a metallic structure having a secondary component includes positioning the secondary component on a main formation surface of a main tool, the main formation surface corresponding to a desired shape of a first layer of material. The method also includes depositing a layer of material on the secondary component and the main formation surface using a cold-spray technique such that the layer of material bonds to the secondary component. The method also includes removing the layer of material and the secondary component to form the metallic structure.
Systems and method of servicing a turbomachine
A system for use in servicing a turbomachine, the system including a first tubular body including an interior channel, and a second tubular body. The first and second tubular bodies are bendable between a neutral shape and a biased shape. The bodies are bent when in the neutral shape. The second tubular body includes a tip end, and the second tubular body is translatable within the interior channel. The first tubular body and the second tubular body are rotatable to selectively orient the tip end in multiple degrees of freedom. The system also includes a steering cable extending from the tip end, wherein the steering cable biases the tip end for selective orientation in additional degrees of freedom.

Turbocharger including a turbine housing to reduce high cycle fatigue
A turbocharger includes a turbine wheel rotatable about an axis and a turbine housing disposed about the turbine wheel. The turbine housing has an inlet portion defining a turbine housing inlet and has a volute portion defining a turbine housing interior. The volute portion has a first volute wall, a second volute wall spaced from the first volute wall, and a tongue separating the turbine housing inlet and the turbine housing interior. The tongue has a first tongue portion extending from the first volute wall substantially toward the second volute wall along the axis, a second tongue portion extending from the first tongue portion substantially circumferentially about the axis, and a third tongue portion extending from the second tongue portion substantially toward the second volute wall along the axis to reduce high cycle fatigue of the turbine wheel.
LOW DENSITY HYBRID KNIFE SEAL
A hybrid abradable seal including a stator substrate having an external surface; a casing coupled to the external surface, the casing including radial walls extending radially from the external surface; an abradable material disposed within the casing; the abradable material and the casing being coupled together and configured to resist a deflection responsive to engine gas loads.
AIRFOILS FOR A FAN SECTION OF A TURBINE ENGINE
An airfoil for a fan section of a turbine engine may include a fan blade or an outlet guide vane formed of a first material, and an edge guard disposed about an edge of the fan blade. The edge guard may include a matrix composite that has a toughness that is greater than a toughness of the first material. The airfoil may include a fan blade or an outlet guide vane. The first material of the airfoil may include a metal alloy and/or a matrix composite. A method of manufacturing an airfoil for a fan section of a turbine engine may include manufacturing an edge guard, attaching the edge guard to the airfoil.
HPC and HPT disks coated by atomic layer deposition
A process for coating a gas turbine engine disk comprises placing the disk having an outer surface into a chamber, the chamber configured to perform atomic layer deposition; injecting a first reactant into the chamber; forming a first monolayer gas thin film on the outer surface; removing the first reactant from the chamber; injecting a second reactant into the chamber; reacting second reactant with the first monolayer gas thin film; removing the second reactant from the chamber; and forming a protective barrier coating on the outer surface.
Ceramic matrix composite airfoil cooling
Airfoils for gas turbine engines are provided. In one embodiment, an airfoil formed from a ceramic matrix composite material includes opposite pressure and suction sides extending radially along a span and defining an outer surface of the airfoil. The airfoil also includes opposite leading and trailing edges extending radially along the span. The pressure and suction sides extend axially between the leading and trailing edges. The leading edge defines a forward end of the airfoil, and the trailing edge defining an aft end of the airfoil. Further, the airfoil includes a trailing edge portion defined adjacent the trailing edge at the aft end of the airfoil; a plenum defined within the airfoil forward of the trailing edge portion; and a cooling passage defined within the trailing edge portion proximate the suction side. Methods for forming airfoils for gas turbine engines also are provided.
