At least one retaining feature integrally and homogeneously extends from the inner wall. The valve seat when positioned into a casting mold has the at least one retaining feature assisting in retaining the valve seat in the casting mold. A metal in a molten form is received in the casting mold. A cast component formed after cooling of the metal has the valve seat cast-in-place.
Valve bridge comprising concave chambers
A valve bridge comprises a central body and at least first and second valve interface portions extending from the central body, each of the at least first and second valve interface portions defining a chamber configured to receive an engine valve and corresponding valve spring and spring retainer. Each chamber comprises a valve bridge control surface configured to selectively contact at least one of the corresponding valve spring and spring retainer, wherein each valve bridge control surface is a concave surface configured to extend downward around the corresponding valve spring.
Sintered alloy valve guide and method of producing sintered alloy valve guide
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a sintered alloy valve guide capable of inhibiting valve adhesion even in a high-temperature environment. The problem can be solved by a sintered alloy valve guide impregnated with a lubricating oil including pores that are sealed on the valve guide outer circumferential surface. More particularly, the problem is solved by the sealing step of performing a sealing treatment of pores on the outer circumferential surface of a sintered body impregnated with a lubricating oil.
Poppet valve
A poppet valve includes: a valve body comprising a valve stem body, a valve head body with a valve combustion face, and a valve fillet body interconnecting the valve stem body and the valve head body. The valve fillet body surface has an increased thermal resistance compared to the valve combustion face.
Hydraulic unit of an electrohydraulic gas exchange valve control system
The disclosure relates to a hydraulic unit of an electrohydraulic gas exchange valve control system of an internal combustion engine. The hydraulic unit includes a hydraulic housing having a receiving opening, a piston guide, and a slave piston. The piston guide is fastened in the hydraulic housing by way of self-staking with a wall of the receiving opening. The piston guide includes an outer part that brings about the self-staking and an inner part that guides the slave piston. An inner surface of the outer part is radially interspaced from the outer surface of the inner part in an axial region of the self-staking and the outer part and the inner part are connected in an axially form-locked manner so that a first end section of the outer part facing the gas exchange valve is partially or fully formed into an outer circumferential recess of the inner part.
Internal combustion engine with reduced oil maintenance
An internal combustion engine includes an engine block, a piston, a cylinder head, and a valve train. The engine block includes a cylinder block including a cylinder bore and a crankcase defining a crankcase chamber with a crankshaft positioned within the crankcase chamber. The piston is coupled to the crankshaft and configured to reciprocate within the cylinder bore. The cylinder head is coupled to the cylinder block. The valve train includes a camshaft, a first and second pushrod, a first and second rocker arm, an exhaust valve housed, and an intake valve. The first rocker arm, the second rocker arm, the exhaust valve, and the intake valve each include at least a layer of a low friction material. The first and second pushrod each pass through a pushrod seal to prevent fluid from reaching the rocker chamber to fluidly isolate the rocker chamber from the crankcase chamber.
Sliding member, and sliding member of internal combustion engine
A sliding member includes a base substrate and a coating layer formed on the base substrate. The coating layer includes an inorganic part derived from at least one type of inorganic particles selected from the group consisting of iron base alloy particles, cobalt base alloy particles, chromium base alloy particles, nickel base alloy particles, molybdenum base alloy particles, and ceramic particles, and a metal part derived from at least one type of metal particles selected from the group consisting of iron base alloy particles other than listed in the above group, copper particles, and copper alloy particles. The inorganic part is bonded to another inorganic part and/or the metal part via interfaces therebetween, and the metal part is bonded to another metal part and/or the inorganic part via interfaces therebetween. The sliding member includes an interface layer including at least one of a diffusion layer and an intermetallic compound layer on at least one part of an interface between the base substrate and the coating layer or interfaces between the inorganic part and the metal part, the inorganic parts, and the metal parts. The interface layer has a thickness of equal to or less than 2 μm.
