Variable valve actuation
11313254 · 2022-04-26 · ·

The present invention provides for Variable Valve Actuation comprising a cam, a valve suitable to displace between a closed position and an open condition caused by said cam, and further comprising a main rocker arm suitable to swing over a fulcrum, mechanically interacting with said valve, by means of a guide profile, and wherein said cam interacts with said main rocker arm causing said valve displacement as a consequence of said main rocker arm swinging. The target is to prevent a valve brake due to the guide profile and enable higher system stiffness. Accumulator less designs are feasible with this system.

11313255 · 2022-04-26 · ·

A marine outboard motor having an internal combustion engine is provided. The internal combustion engine includes an engine block having at least one cylinder and a valve train comprising a cam, a valve assembly including a valve spring, a roller finger follower, and a pivot post. The pivot post extends from a fixed body of the engine block and defines a contact surface about which the roller finger follower pivots when deflected by the cam during use. The pivot post is moveable relative to the fixed body in a first longitudinal direction (A) against the action of the valve spring. A removable shim is disposed between the fixed body and a portion (182) of the pivot post to space the pivot post from the fixed body in the first longitudinal direction (A) and thereby reduce an amount of lash between the cam and the roller finger follower. The removable shim is dimensioned to fit at least partly around a shaft portion of the pivot post.

A rocker arm can comprise a cam arm, a valve arm, a lost motion spring, and a pair of deactivatable latches configured to impede travel of the cam arm with respect to the lost motion spring and configured to enable the cam arm to collapse the lost motion spring. The cam arm can comprise a cam interface, a spring pressing area, a cam arm body, and a pivot axle connection. The valve arm can comprise a valve arm body, a rocker shaft bore, a latch socket, and lost motion spring mount. A pivot axle can connect the valve arm body to the cam arm body. Alternatively, a latch socket in a valve arm neck comprises a latch assembly whereby a deactivatable latch is configured to impede motion of the cam arm and to collapse so the cam arm can collapse the lost motion spring.

This invention has two main embodiments. An opposed piston 2-stroke axial engine and a 4-stroke axial engine. The opposed piston two stroke also offers an option of a novel cylinder deactivation design. Both, two stroke and four stroke engines share novel systems for coupling piston reciprocation to shaft rotation, piston and piston ring lubricant distribution, and provision for reacting out piston side load with minimum mechanical friction

Two-wheeled vehicle

A two-wheeled vehicle is provided including a frame, front and rear ground-engaging members each supporting the frame, a straddle-type seat, a handlebar for steering the vehicle, at least one light device configured to operate in a hazard mode, an engine supported by the frame and operably coupled to the ground-engaging members, a tilt sensor, and a vehicle control unit in communication with the tilt sensor. The vehicle control unit is operative to detect a tilt angle of the vehicle based on output from the tilt sensor. The vehicle control unit is operative to determine a tip-over condition of the vehicle based on the detected tilt angle exceeding a threshold tilt angle. The vehicle control unit activates the hazard mode of the at least one light in response to the determination of the tip-over condition.

Valve actuation device for actuating at least two gas exchange valves of an internal combustion engine, method for operating such a valve actuation device and internal combustion engine
11767773 · 2023-09-26 · ·

A valve actuation device for actuating a first and second gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine. A tilting lever is pivotable between a first starting position and a first actuation position and a valve bridge is movable between a second starting position and a second actuation position. A coupling device is switchable between a locking state, in which the valve bridge is movable out of the second starting position into the second actuation position via the coupling device by the tilting lever, and an unlocking state, in which, despite a movement of the tilting lever out of the first starting position into the first actuation position, there is no movement of the valve bridge out of the second starting position into the second actuation position. The coupling device is held on the tilting lever such that the coupling device is pivotable with the tilting lever.

Control method and control system for continuously variable valve lift mechanism and vehicle

A control method for a continuously variable valve lift mechanism includes: controlling a continuously variable valve lift mechanism to enter a limp mode when the continuously variable valve lift mechanism fails and disables an automatic valve lift changing function; driving and forcing the continuously variable valve lift mechanism to move to a maximum lift position; and triggering a self locking function to self lock the continuously variable valve lift mechanism at the maximum lift position when the continuously variable valve lift mechanism reaches the maximum lift position. A control system for a continuously variable valve lift mechanism, and a vehicle are also provided.
