ADAPTER FOR ROLLER TAPPET OF ENGINE AND ENGINE ROLLER TAPPET ASSEMBLY INCLUDING SAME
An adapter for a roller tappet of an engine may include a body and a support. The body may be combined with a cylinder block of the engine. The body may include oil inlet connected to main gallery of the cylinder block to receive an oil from the main gallery. The support may be extended from one end of the body to support the roller tappet. The support may include a first oil passageway connected to the oil inlet. The first oil passageway is formed through the body and the support to supply the oil supplied from the oil inlet to the roller tappet. Thus, the oil may be supplied from the main gallery to the roller tappet through the oil passageway so that it may not be required to form an additional oil passageway, which may supply the oil to the roller tappet, in the cylinder block.
CAM FOLLOWER ASSEMBLY
An improved cam follower includes a lifter body, a spring seat, a tower, a spring and an anti-rotation member defining at least one interference rib. The lifter body may engage with a cam via a rolling member. The lifter body defines a longitudinal axis, a first open end, and a second end. The spring seat which defines a spring seat opening may be disposed at the first open end of the lifter body. The tower which includes an upper flange may be couples a pushrod to the lifter body. The spring may be disposed between the spring seat and the upper flange of the tower. The anti-rotation member may be disposed proximate to the first open end of the lifter body and includes an outer surface and an inner surface with an interference rib integral to the inner surface which engages with an upper region of the lifter body.
Cam follower assembly and method of manufacturing thereof
An improved cam follower for a vehicle engine includes a body, a spring seat, a tower, a spring and an anti-rotation member. The body defines a body diameter, a first open end, and a second end. The spring seat includes a spring seat opening and an interlock portion. The spring seat may be affixed to the first open end of the body. The spring seat further includes a spring seat diameter wherein the spring seat diameter is greater than the body diameter. The tower may be disposed in a pin housing through the spring seat opening at the first open end of the body. The tower further includes an upper flange and a spring which abuts the upper flange at a first spring end. The second spring end abuts the spring seat. The anti-rotation member accordingly may be coupled to the body via the spring seat.
HYDRAULIC LASH ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY SLEEVES
A hydraulic lash adjuster (HLA) sleeve configured to be received within a lifter bore of an engine block, includes a cylindrical sleeve having an outer surface defining an outer diameter, and an inner surface defining an inner diameter. The outer diameter is sized for an interference fit with the lifter bore to prevent rotation of the HLA sleeve within the lifter bore. The inner diameter is sized to receive a lifter.
Cam follower roller device, notably for a fuel injection pump
A cam follower roller device comprising a tappet body extending along a longitudinal axis and defining a tappet bore, and a bearing assembly mounted in the tappet bore. The bearing assembly includes a pin centered on a pin transverse axis (the transverse axis is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis), and a roller rotatably mounted on the pin. The tappet body is made by a metal injection molding process including successive steps of mixing a metal powder with a thermoplastic binder, forming a part by injection of the mixed powder in a closed die, debinding the formed part in a furnace, sintering to densify the part, and quenching to set a tappet body hardness, to improve wear resistance and fatigue life.
Replacement tappet assembly and kit
An anti-rotation bracket for an internal combustion engine, including a peripheral wall having formed therein four outer apertures formed proximate to four corners of the bracket and a groove formed in a lower surface of the bracket, the groove forming a contiguous depression around the lower surface of the bracket and passing between each outer bolt aperture and a center of the bracket. The bracket further includes two tappet structures comprising tappet apertures, the tappet structures being centered inward from the peripheral wall, and an inner aperture positioned inward from the peripheral wall.
ANTI-ROTATION FEATURE FOR FOLLOWERS USING AN OIL GALLERY INSERT
An engine comprises a plurality of rotating eccentric cams on a cam rail, a valve train mechanism, and respective followers wherein at least one of the respective followers has a respective first end in contact with a respective rotating eccentric cam and a respective second end in contact with the valve train mechanism, a body extending between the first end and the second end, and a follower fluid port. The engine further comprises an oil gallery bore parallel to the cam rail wherein the oil gallery bore is configured to supply oil to the respective follower through its fluid port. The engine further comprises a gallery insert placed in the oil gallery bore and is configured to abut the respective follower to prevent axial rotation with respect to the cam rail. The engine further comprises a gallery insert abut a flat surface of a follower to prevent axial rotation.
Variable valve actuation device for internal combustion engine
A variable valve actuation device includes a plurality of valve lifter. Each valve lifter slidable in a lifter support hole between an upper position and a lower position. A valve rest recess communicating with a valve rest chamber opens out at an outer circumferential surface of the valve lifter, and a valve rest supply port of a valve rest passage opens out at an inner circumferential surface of the lifter support hole in such a positional relationship that the valve rest passage and the valve rest chamber communicate with each other when the valve lifter is at the upper position, and continue to communicate with each other until the valve lifter has moved downward to a shut-off position located at a prescribed part of a down stroke from the upper position. The communication between the valve rest passage and the valve rest chamber shut off at the shut-off position.
Cam follower with anti-rotation device
A cam follower including a plunger intended to execute a reciprocating movement in an exterior body. The plunger includes a plunger body having a cylindrical exterior surface, an anti-rotation device extending radially beyond the cylindrical exterior surface of the pusher body and engaging via a matching structure in the exterior body, a roller providing the contact with a cam, and a sleeve rotatably supporting the roller in the plunger body. The plunger body includes at least one lateral bore and the sleeve is inserted in the bore. In order to avoid additional components and assembly steps to constitute the anti-rotation device, the present invention proposes to use one end of the sleeve as the anti-rotation device.
Guide assembly for valve lifters of engines
A guide assembly for a valve lifter of an engine. The valve lifter is at least partly received within a bore of a body of the engine and an end portion of the valve lifter is exposed to an outside of the body. The guide assembly includes a pin and a guide. The pin is adapted to be fixedly coupled to the end portion of the valve lifter, while the guide is adapted to be coupled to the body. The guide defines a channel. The pin is received within the channel and cooperates with the channel to facilitate a movement of the valve lifter along an axis of the bore and to restrict a rotation of the valve lifter about the axis of the bore.
