VEHICLE MUFFLER WITH INTEGRATED AIR DEFLECTOR
A muffler having an integrated air deflector comprised of sheet metal includes a tubular shell portion and an integrated air deflector comprised of the sheet metal is described. The integrated air deflector is formed by bending a portion of the sheet metal to project outwardly from a surface of the tubular shell portion. A muffler assembly includes a muffler having an integrated air deflector comprised of sheet metal and end caps configured to attach to tubular ends of the tubular shell portion. The muffler assembly is configured to be installed on an underbody of a motor vehicle. The muffler assembly results in improved aerodynamic efficiency of the motor vehicle and thereby increases a fuel efficiency of the motor vehicle.
Photoluminescent emission system
A vehicle emissions system is provided that includes a tail pipe configured to emit a first emission, a heat shield positioned proximate the tail pipe having a shield substrate. A semiconductor layer is positioned on the shield substrate and configured to convert the first emission into a second emission. An overmold is positioned over the semiconductor layer.
STAMPED AERODYNAMIC DEFLECTOR FOR VEHICLE MUFFLER
A two-piece, stamped muffler having an integrally-attached aerodynamic shield having a flat bottom shape is disclosed. The muffler may be formed with a substantially flat lower surface. The aerodynamically-improved muffler set forth herein is provided as an aerodynamic shield that is incorporated into an extended flange provided in the shell blank, as a deflector that is attached to a muffler lower shell body and the clamshell flange such as by welding, that is separately attached to the clamshell flange only such as by welding, or that is separately attached to the lower shell only, again possibly by welding. For dual stamped mufflers, the shield may be used jointly with an incremental shield separate from, or integrated into, the spare tire well to connect the twin dual muffler shields to achieve vehicle aerodynamic requirements. A muffler having the aerodynamic shield deflects underbody air flow outside of the rear fascia cavity.
EXHAUST GAS CLEANING APPARATUS
There is provided an exhaust gas cleaning apparatus for cleaning exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine that includes an upstream side exhaust pipe and a downstream side exhaust pipe that are located on an upstream side and a downstream side, respectively, with respect to a flow direction of the exhaust gas discharged from the internal combustion engine. A filter unit is disposed between the upstream side exhaust pipe and the downstream side exhaust pipe and removably connected at opposite sides thereof to the upstream side exhaust pipe and the downstream side exhaust pipe. The filter unit includes a filter that captures particulate matter contained in the exhaust gas flowing in the upstream side exhaust pipe, a casing in which the filter is accommodated, and a thermal insulator that covers an entire outer peripheral surface of the casing. A handle is provided on the thermal insulator.
Exhaust device of motorcycle
An exhaust device includes left and right exhaust pipes and mufflers connected to a downstream side of the left and right exhaust pipes. The pair of left and right exhaust pipes respectively includes a merging portion. A catalyst is provided to the merging portion respectively. The pair of left and right exhaust pipes respectively includes, on a downstream side of the catalyst, a branching portion that has one side thereof extending to the muffler and the other side thereof extending to a connecting pipe. An oxygen sensor is provided to one side on a downstream side of the pair of left and right branching portions.
Crash energy absorbing muffler
A muffler (101) for a vehicle, the muffler (101) having at least one first crumple feature (105) and at least one second crumple feature (107), the first and the second crumple features (105, 107) being configured to absorb the energy of an impact load to the muffler (101). The first crumple feature (105) is configured to deform at a first level of impact loading and the second crumple feature (107) is configured to deform at a second level of impact loading.
