Multi-fluid renewable geo-energy systems and methods

A geo-energy production method for extracting thermal energy from a reservoir formation. A production well extracts brine from the reservoir formation. A plurality of working fluid injection (“WFI”) wells may be arranged proximate to the production well to at least partially circumscribe the production well. A plurality of brine production (“BP”) wells may be arranged in a vicinity of the WFI wells to at least partially circumscribe the WFI wells. A working fluid is injected into the WFI wells to help drive a flow of the brine up through the production and BP wells, together with at least a portion of the injected working fluid. Parasitic-load time-shifting and to storing of excess solar thermal energy may also be performed.

The invention relates to a shaft-hub connection (1), particularly for mounting a rotor wheel on a shaft (10). The shaft-hub connection (1) comprises a shaft (10), a hub (20) and a filler material (30). The shaft (10) comprises an end section (11) on one end. A receiving region (21) is arranged in the hub (20). The end section (11) is arranged in the receiving region (21), with an intermediate layer of the filler material (30) positioned inbetween. The filler material (30) forms undercuts in the axial and rotational direction, in relation to the end section (11) and in relation to the receiving region (21), so as to create a positive embodiment of the shaft-hub connnection (1).

Stoichiometric combustion with exhaust gas recirculation and direct contact cooler

Methods and systems for low emission power generation in hydrocarbon recovery processes are provided. One system includes a gas turbine system configured to stoichiometrically combust a compressed oxidant and a fuel in the presence of a compressed recycle exhaust gas and expand the discharge in an expander to generate a gaseous exhaust stream and drive a main compressor. A boost compressor can receive and increase the pressure of the gaseous exhaust stream and inject it into an evaporative cooling tower configured to use an exhaust nitrogen gas having a low relative humidity as an evaporative cooling media. The cooled gaseous exhaust stream is then compressed and recirculated through the system as a diluent to moderate the temperature of the stoichiometric combustion.

Low emission power generation systems and methods

Methods and systems for CO.sub.2 separation for low emission power generation in combined-cycle power plants are provided. One system includes a gas turbine system that stoichiometrically combusts a fuel and an oxidant in the presence of a compressed recycle stream to provide mechanical power and a gaseous exhaust. The compressed recycle stream acts as a diluent to moderate the temperature of the combustion process. A boost compressor can boost the pressure of the gaseous exhaust before being compressed into the compressed recycle stream. A purge stream is tapped off from the compressed recycle stream and directed to a CO.sub.2 separator configured to absorb CO.sub.2 from the purge stream using a potassium carbonate solvent.

Method for enhanced cold steam turbine start in a supplementary fired multi gas turbine combined cycle plant

A method for enhanced cold (or warm) steam turbine start in a supplementary fired multi-gas turbine combined cycle plant is disclosed. Boiler supplementary firing, which is normally used to increase steam flow when the plant gas turbine is at maximum load, is used to augment steam production with a partly loaded, temperature matched gas turbine. This is done to satisfy minimum required steam flow for a cold (or warm) steam turbine start. Lighting the supplementary firing burners in the heat recovery steam generator/boiler and setting them at a minimum or low heat load serves to add enough steam, at the proper temperature, to insure a successful cold or warm steam turbine start when the gas turbine load and related steam production capacity from the gas turbine exhaust flow are limited by the need to match the required steam temperature and/or maintain low gas turbine exhaust emissions.

Aircraft turbomachine combustion chamber module and method for designing same

A combustion chamber module for an aircraft turbomachine, including an annular combustion chamber in which each of primary and dilution ports of an outer annular wall, which is located at least partly in a wake of a fuel injector, has a discharge coefficient higher than that of its homologous port of an inner annular wall. A method for designing such a module includes determining wakes generated by fuel injectors, and then geometrically defining air inlet ports of coaxial walls of the combustion chamber such that an air flow rate actually entering through ports of the outer wall is substantially equal to an air flow rate entering through ports of the inner wall.
