Pulse combustion heat exchanger system and method

A pulse combustion heat exchanger having a longitudinal axis is configured to accept oxidant and fuel and output a cooled combustion stream. The pulse combustion heat exchanger includes an oxidant inlet section that accepts oxidant, a fuel inlet section that accepts fuel, a mixing section that mixes oxidant with fuel, a combustion section that receives the oxidant and fuel and produces a pulsating combustion stream, and a heat transfer section configured to receive the pulsating combustion stream, the heat transfer section includes one or more resonance conduits. Coolant is employed at a plurality of longitudinally spaced-apart transition sections to remove heat.

An internal combustion engine is described. The internal combustion engine comprises a valve control which is configured to close inlet valves of the internal combustion engine at Miller or Atkinson closing times. An electrified exhaust-gas turbocharger of the internal combustion engine comprises an electric machine which is operable selectively as a motor or generator. A control unit operates the electric machine of the electrified exhaust-gas turbocharger as a motor in a first load range of the internal combustion engine and as a generator in a second load range which corresponds to greater loads of the internal combustion engine than the first load range.

EFFERVESCENT ATOMIZING STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF OPERATION FOR ROTATING DETONATION PROPULSION SYSTEM

A method and system of effervescent atomization of liquid fuel for a rotating detonation combustor (RDC) for a propulsion system is provided. The method includes flowing liquid fuel through a fuel injection port of a nozzle assembly of the RDC system; flowing a gas through the fuel injection port of the nozzle assembly volumetrically proportional to the liquid fuel; producing a gas-liquid fuel mixture at the fuel injection port by mixing the flow of gas and the flow of liquid fuel; flowing an oxidizer through a nozzle flowpath of the RDC system; producing an oxidizer-gas-liquid fuel mixture by mixing the gas-liquid fuel mixture and the flow of oxidizer within the nozzle flowpath; and igniting the oxidizer-gas-liquid fuel mixture within a combustion chamber of the RDC system.

TURBOCHARGER, ENGINE SYSTEM, AND CONTROL METHOD FOR TURBOCHARGER

The present invention provides a turbocharger including: a rotating shaft; a turbine wheel; a compressor wheel; a rolling bearing including an inner race fixed to an outer circumferential surface of the rotating shaft, an outer race surrounding the inner race from the outside in a radial direction, and rolling bodies arranged between the inner and outer races and that supports the rotating shaft to be rotatable about an axis; a housing that covers the rolling bearing from an outer circumferential side via a gap between the housing and an outer circumferential surface of the rolling bearing; and a lubricant supply line configured to supply a lubricant into the housing. The turbocharger includes an operating state detection unit that detects an operating state of the turbocharger and a lubricant regulating unit configured to regulate the flow rate of the lubricant flowing through the lubricant supply line depending on the operating state.
