Systems and methods for determining fuel release from a fuel injector
Methods and systems for evaluating whether or not a fuel amount that is greater than a threshold has been release to an engine via fuel injectors when the fuel injectors are commanded off are presented. In one example, an oxygen sensor is activated and engine cranking is prevented until a pumping current of the oxygen sensor is proportionate to a concentration of oxygen sensed via the oxygen sensor so that released fuel may be observed during engine starting.
METHOD FOR CHECKING A PRESSURE MEASUREMENT IN A FUEL TANK
A method for checking a measurement of pressure in a fuel tank, implemented in a vehicle having a fuel tank and a fuel vapor breather circuit including: a filter, a tank isolation valve interposed between the tank and the filter, and a purge line, connected to the filter, downstream thereof, a pressure sensor, and a purge valve. The method includes, when the purge valve is closed: measuring a value of the pressure in the tank when the isolation valve is closed, then measuring a temporal extreme value for the pressure in the purge line following an opening of the isolation valve, and determining, from the measured values, that there is an anomaly in the measured pressure in the tank.

There are provided an intake pressure detecting means for detecting an intake pressure on more downstream side than a throttle valve in an intake passage to an engine, a rotational speed detecting means for detecting a rotational speed of an engine, an engine controlling means for controlling the engine to arrive at a target air-fuel ratio corresponding to the detected intake pressure and the detected engine rotational speed and an abnormality treating means for executing an engine stopping treatment to stop the engine if an intake pressure higher than a set pressure has been detected and an engine rotational speed higher than a set rotational speed has been detected, when an opening degree state detecting means detects that the throttle valve is under a fully closed or substantially fully closed state.
VALVE ASSEMBLY
The present disclosure relates to a valve assembly adapted to be located at least partially in a body of fluid for controlling fluid flow from the body of fluid to a fluid outlet port. The valve assembly has an extension in a first direction and includes a fluid inlet port having an extension at least partially in the first direction. The valve assembly further includes a valve member being movable in the first direction relative to the fluid inlet port between an open position, in which the fluid inlet port is adapted to provide a fluid communication between the body of fluid and the fluid outlet port, and a closed position, in which the valve member covers the fluid inlet port such that fluid communication between the body of fluid and the fluid outlet port via the fluid inlet port is prevented.
FUEL LEVEL ESTIMATION DEVICE AND ABNORMALITY DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS FOR CLOSED FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM
Disclosed is a fuel level estimation device including: an information acquiring unit acquiring information about a closed system internal pressure of a closed fuel vapor system including the fuel tank, a vent passage, and a canister; a flow rate controlling unit controlling, by actuating a negative pressure pump, a flow rate of fuel vapor-containing gas in the closed fuel vapor system; a fuel level estimating unit estimating a fuel level based on a total volume of the closed fuel vapor system and an occupied volume of the gas. The fuel level estimating unit estimates the occupied volume of the gas by using a change in a closed system internal pressure before and after the closed fuel vapor system is subjected to pressure-reducing treatment for a predetermined interval and a reference discharging rate when the gas is subject to the pressure-reducing treatment. An abnormality diagnostic apparatus is also disclosed.
Fuel supply devices
A fuel supply device has a cover member which is attached to an opening portion of a fuel tank and a pump unit comprising a pump. The cover member and pump unit are connected via a connecting portion where the pump unit is rotatably connected to the connecting portion. Further, the fuel supply device includes a fuel residual amount detection device which is attached to the pump unit and configured to detect the residual amount of fuel. The fuel residual amount detection device includes a gauge main body to which electric wirings are connected, an arm portion which is movably mounted relative to the gauge main body and a float which is attached to a leading end of the arm portion. The float is positioned above a lower terminal end of the base portion when the cover member is held and lifted while the pump unit rotates with respect to the connecting portion.
Fuel pump and control method therefor including control of rotation speed of impeller
An ECU of a fuel pump executes a feedback control to drive a motor part and sets a rotation speed of an impeller to become a rotation speed corresponding to the target fuel pressure. The ECU detects whether a vapor is generated in a fuel of a pump chamber of the fuel pump, based on a fuel pressure detected by a pressure sensor. When a generation of the vapor is detected, the ECU sets a rotation speed of the impeller to be higher than the rotation speed under a normal control for a predetermined time with a result that the vapor in the pump chamber and a fuel flow channel is discharged into a vapor discharge hole. Thus, the vapor of the pump chamber is discharged from the vapor discharge hole to an outside of the fuel pump.
FUEL RECIRCULATION
A method of dissolving water into diesel fuel in a diesel engine includes pumping fuel through a flow path with a pump, directing a first portion of the fuel into a high pressure rail, injecting the first portion of the fuel into one or more cylinder heads for combustion, directing a second portion of the fuel into a first conduit, and actuating a flow diverter such that, the second portion of the fuel is directed toward a fuel reservoir when the flow diverter is in a first position, and the second portion of the fuel is directed toward the first pump bypassing the fuel reservoir when the flow diverter is in a second position.
CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A controller for an internal combustion engine includes processing circuitry configured to execute: a dither control process of operating fuel injection valves to designate at least one of cylinders as a lean combustion cylinder, in which an air-fuel ratio is leaner than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, and to designate at least another one of the cylinders as a rich combustion cylinder, in which an air-fuel ratio is richer than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio; and an idle-time limiting process of causing an absolute value of a difference between the air-fuel ratio in the lean combustion cylinder and the air-fuel ratio in the rich combustion cylinder to be smaller when the internal combustion engine is idling than when the internal combustion engine is not idling.
