PISTON ARRANGEMENT
A piston arrangement includes a piston movable within a cylinder in reciprocating motion along a piston axis, a rack movable with the piston, a sector gear configured to engage and disengage the rack and rotatable around a sector gear axis, a track adapted to rotate relative to the cylinder around a track axis of rotation, the piston being coupled to the track. The sector gear and the track are coupled in rotation. The track may have a shape such that the movement of the piston coupled to the track is substantially non simple harmonic. Also, an internal combustion engine comprising the piston arrangement.

MANIFOLD INTERFACE SEAL
Systems and assemblies are provided for sealing an interface between a cylinder and a manifold corresponding to the cylinder. The cylinder comprises at least one port. A manifold interface is arranged adjacent to the at least one port. A seal is located inside of a circumferential pocket, wherein the circumferential pocket comprises at least a portion of the manifold interface. A spring is configured to preload the seal radially inward so that the seal stays in contact with the outer surface of the cylinder.
In-situ sensor for fuel spray impingement in direct injection engines
A sensor device system for detection of a liquid adjacent to the sensor having a glass fiber laminate substrate, at least one pair of comb electrodes formed on the glass fiber laminate substrate, a first of the pair of comb electrodes being interdigitated with a second of the pair of comb electrodes, the pair of comb electrodes defining geometric parameters; and a passivation coating covering the pair of comb electrodes.

PISTON HAVING SMOOTHED OUTER CROWN SURFACE IN DEPOSIT-SENSITIVE ZONE
A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a piston crown having a crown outer surface forming piston lands alternating axially with piston ring grooves together with the piston lands defining a deposit-sensitive zone. The crown outer surface is smoothed to inhibit deposit formation and/or adhesion within at least a portion of the deposit-sensitive zone to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.0002 millimeters or less, and in a refinement to a mirror finish Ra of 0.000125 or less.
Engine piston, engine, hand-held tool, and method of manufacturing an engine piston
A two-stroke engine piston (1) is disclosed comprising a piston top (3), a mantle surface (5), a stratified scavenging channel (7) in the mantle surface (5), and a weight reduction space (9) arranged between the piston top (3) and the stratified scavenging channel (7). The weight reduction space (9) has a largest first axial extent (a1) at the mantle surface (5) and a second axial extent (a2) radially inside the mantle surface (5), and wherein the second axial extent (a2) is greater than the largest first axial extent (a1). The present disclosure further relates to an engine (30), a hand-held tool (40), and a method of manufacturing an engine piston (1).
TRI-WELD PISTON
A diesel engine piston has a body and a crown engaged to the body with three inertially welded struts. The body includes a base extending downward opposite the crown with pin bosses having pin bores and a skirt extending downward from the base.
Piston for an internal combustion engine
The present disclosure relates to a piston for an internal combustion engine. The piston comprises a cover which at least partially covers a piston basehead of the piston. A heat-isolating air gap is formed between the cover and the piston basehead, which is fluidically connected to a combustion chamber and/or an upper side of the cover facing away from the heat-isolating air gap. The fluidic connection permits a fluid exchange to take place between the heat-isolating air gap and the combustion chamber. In this way, a pressure gradient can be reduced between the combustion chamber and the heat-isolating air gap. As a result, the cover is/can be kept thin without being deformed during combustion.
Crankcase ventilation system with dead space alignment sleeves
A cylinder aligning sleeve and adapter plate for use within an internal combustion engine. The sleeve includes apertures placed contiguously with holes within the adapter plate to form a flow passage through the dead space between compression and crosshead pistons. The flow passage exits to a vent line where gas detection may occur along with safe venting of any gas detected. The sleeve serves to ensure concentric alignment of the compression cylinder with the engine block bore.
