Method for control and/or regulation of a hybrid powertrain of a motor vehicle with an exhaust gas recirculation system

A method for control and/or regulation of a hybrid powertrain of a motor vehicle, wherein exhaust gas is taken from an exhaust system and delivered to a fresh air supply of an internal combustion engine, wherein the residual recirculated exhaust gas is purged from the fresh air supply in the event of a negative load jump. After the negative load jump, the internal combustion engine continues to run with a smaller load and simultaneously the torque supplied by the internal combustion engine is recuperated by means of the electric machine, wherein no positive torque in total is applied to the output of the powertrain.

Method and system for distribution of exhaust gas

Methods and systems are provided for to methods and systems for distributing exhaust gas to a turbine, a turbocharger bypass, and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) line via a valve. In one example, a method may include selectively flowing exhaust gas, via a valve coupled to an exhaust passage, to one or more of an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) passage, an exhaust turbine, and an exhaust catalyst via a bypass passage without flowing through the exhaust turbine based on engine operating conditions.

Method of determining an operational status of an EGR valve

A method of determining an operational status of an exhaust gas recirculation valve of an internal combustion engine arrangement, the EGR valve being configured to control a flow of combusted exhaust gas from an exhaust manifold to an inlet manifold of the ICE arrangement. The method comprising controlling the EGR valve to transition from a closed position; obtaining a signal indicative of a variation of temperature level of the gas present in the inlet manifold at a duration between a first point in time and a second point in time when the EGR valve assumes the open position; determining, based on the signal indicative of the variation of the temperature level, a velocity value indicative of a maximum increase in change of temperature level during the time period between the first point in time and the second point in time; comparing the velocity value with a predetermined threshold; and determining that the EGR valve is operational when the velocity value is higher than the predetermined threshold.

Method and systems for airflow control

Various methods and systems are provided for controlling emissions. In one example, a controller is configured to respond to one or more of intake manifold air temperature (MAT), intake air flow rate, or a sensed or estimated intake oxygen fraction by changing an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) amount to maintain particulate matter (PM) and NOx within a range, and then further adjusting the EGR amount based on NOx sensor feedback.

Injector of an over-enriched fuel-and-air mixture to the combustion chamber of internal combustion engines

A fuel injector for injecting an over-enriched fuel and air mixture to the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine includes a spray nozzle, a gaseous carrier, a fuel mixing and evaporation chamber and an injector nozzle. During operation, both a liquid fuel and the gaseous carrier are supplied to the fuel mixing and evaporation chamber of the injector through the spray nozzle, where they are mixed and evaporated as a result of elevated temperature, and the mixture reaches the combustion chamber. The gaseous carrier is air or, flue gas, at elevated pressure and temperature and having a composition that prevents the initiation of flame combustion, and the gaseous carrier has an oxygen content low enough to prevent the initiation of combustion, even under conditions of elevated pressure and temperature.
