CONTROL VALVE AND AIR STARTING SYSTEM

A method of slow starting a combustion engine with an air starting system having a pressure source coupled to an air starter via a control valve, the method comprising: supplying bursts of air from the pressure source to the air starter by reciprocating a piston of the control valve between an opened position and a closed position.

EXPANDED FUNCTIONALITY STOP-START FUEL SAVING SYSTEM FOR VOCATIONAL VEHICLES

An engine stop-start fuel saving system for a vocational vehicle propelled by a conventional internal combustion engine and powertrain. The system uses a low storage capacity, rapid recharge, high cycle life t electric energy storage device, such as an ultracapacitor. The system also includes a generator that is coupled to the engine and that is connected to 5 recharge the electric energy storage device, as well as a motor that is powered by the energy storage device and that is coupled to the engine. The system also includes a controller that can activate the motor to restart the engine when it is stopped, and engage the generator to recharge the electric energy storage device, and that can subsequently stop the engine again when the electric energy storage device has reached a threshold 10 charge level. The electric energy storage device also powers at least one of: integral vehicle equipment; peripheral vehicle equipment; or an electrical outlet circuit with a socket for external plugin equipment.

Hydraulic device configured as a starter motor

A hydraulic device is disclosed. The hydraulic device can include a rotor, a plurality of vanes and a ring. The ring can include a suction cavity and a pressure cavity. The suction cavity and pressure cavity can be configured for ingress and egress of a hydraulic fluid through the ring. The ring can include a suction port defined entirely by the ring and in fluid communication with the suction cavity. The suction port can be configured to receive hydraulic fluid from a first region between the ring and the rotor. The ring can include a pressure port defined entirely by the ring and in fluid communication with the pressure cavity. The pressure port can be configured to allow for passage of the hydraulic fluid from the pressure cavity to a second region between the ring and the rotor.

Control valve and air starting system

A control valve and an air starting system for an engine having a pressurized air source, an air starter, and a control valve. The control valve having a housing defining a flow passage with an inlet port fluidly coupled to the pressurized air source and an outlet port fluidly coupled to the air starter, a valve body movable between an opened and closed positions to selectively open and close one of the inlet and outlet ports, resulting in a corresponding opening and closing of the control valve, and a linear motor operably coupled to the valve body to move the valve body between the opened and closed positions.

Hydrostatic axial piston machine

A hydrostatic axial piston machine (1) with a cylinder barrel (2) having at least one piston bore (3) in which is located a power unit piston (4) supported on a cam disk (18). A control surface (5) is stationary relative to the housing and is on a control base (6), against which control surface the cylinder barrel (2) is in contact. In the control base (6) there are a kidney-shaped inlet connection (8) and a kidney-shaped outlet connection (9). The sealing web surface on the control surface 5 on the control base (6) in the vicinity of the inlet connection (8) is reduced, so that in operation as a motor, when there is a pressurization of the inlet connection (8), a reduction of the hydrostatic relief force is achieved. In operation as a motor, a residual application of the cylinder barrel (2) against the control surface (5) from a hold-down force of a hold-down spring (24) that is in an operative connection with the cylinder barrel (2) and/or pressing cylinder compression forces is preserved. In addition or alternatively, the terminal areas of the kidney-shaped inlet connection (8) of the control base (6) have a transitional contour (K) in the shape of a flattened arc in the radially outer area.
