Flexible ignition device for gasoline compression ignition combustion in internal combustion engines
This disclosure presents, in one or more embodiments, an ignition device for a gasoline compression ignition engine. The ignition device includes a shuttle plunger with a gas chamber. The gas chamber is delimited by at least one sidewall of the shuttle plunger and captures exhaust gases. The ignition device also includes an electromagnetic coil that actuates the shuttle plunger in a first direction, a main body with a cavity containing the shuttle plunger and the electromagnetic coil, and a center electrode, fixed to the shuttle plunger, that ignites a fuel mixture.
SPARK PLUG AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A SPARK PLUG
Spark plug for igniting a combustible fuel in an internal combustion engine, wherein the spark plug has an igniter arranged at an end of the spark plug facing the combustion chamber, when the spark plug is mounted in the internal combustion engine. The spark plug includes a wall and a sealing area. The wall at least partially surrounds the igniter. The sealing area is used for sealing the combustion chamber against the environment. The wall has the sealing area located at an end of the wall, which end faces the combustion chamber when the spark plug is mounted in the internal combustion engine.

The vehicle has an engine having a cylinder head and an ignition coil with a first end exposed from the cylinder head, a CVT that varies and outputs rotary power from the engine, and an exhaust duct having a first exhaust port for exhausting a gas within a CVT case to outside of the CVT case, and a second exhaust port for exhausting a part of the gas flowing to the first exhaust port to outside of the CVT case, wherein the second exhaust port is provided for exhausting the gas within the CVT case to at least a part of the first end of the ignition coil.

An air-assisted jet flame ignition device includes a housing, a fuel-air premixing unit, and a prechamber. The fuel-air premixing unit includes a fuel injector, an air injection valve, a premixing sleeve, a premixing sleeve inner core placed in the premixing sleeve, and a fuel injector fastening bolt. An inner wall surface of the premixing sleeve and an outer wall surface of the premixing sleeve inner core form a premixing sleeve inner cavity. An inner wall surface of the premixing sleeve inner core, a lower end surface of a nozzle of the fuel injector, and an upper end surface of an air inlet of the air injection valve form a premixing cavity. The premixing cavity coupled to the premixing sleeve inner cavity via a through hole on the sidewall of the premixing sleeve inner core. A prechamber nozzle is fixedly coupled to the lower part of the housing.

A method for operating an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, where the internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber and a prechamber spark plug which is assigned to the combustion chamber and which has a prechamber which is fluidically connected to the combustion chamber via a plurality of openings. The method includes operating the internal combustion engine in a catalytic converter heating operation in which an ignition time, at which an ignition spark for igniting a fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber is generated in the prechamber within a particular operating cycle of the internal combustion engine, is shifted later compared to a normal operation. An injection time, at which a last direct fuel injection into the combustion chamber is carried out within the particular operating cycle, is a same in the catalytic converter heating operation and in the normal operation.

Spark-Ignited Reciprocating Piston Internal Combustion Engine With a Pre-Chamber Ignition System
A pre-chamber ignition system for a spark-ignited reciprocating piston internal combustion engine includes a housing where the housing is installable in a cylinder head of the spark-ignited reciprocating piston internal combustion engine and where the housing has a cavity. An ignition device is disposed in the housing and the ignition device projects into the cavity of the housing. A cover covers the cavity with respect to a combustion chamber of the spark-ignited reciprocating piston internal combustion engine and the cavity and the combustion chamber are connectable together in a gas-guiding manner by an aperture in the cover. The housing consists of a material having a thermal conductivity of more than 170 W/(m*K) and the cover consists of a material having a thermal conductivity of less than 170 W/(m*K).
Spark-Ignited Reciprocating-Piston Internal-Combustion Engine With a Pre-Chamber Ignition System
A spark-ignited reciprocating piston internal combustion engine may include a pre-chamber ignition system which is arranged in the cylinder head of the reciprocating piston internal combustion engine and in which an ignition device is arranged, comprising an ignition electrode in a housing, said ignition electrode protruding into a cavity of the pre-chamber ignition system. The cavity is covered from the combustion chamber of the reciprocating piston internal combustion engine by a cover, and the cover has at least one first opening which connects the cavity and the combustion chamber together so as to conduct gas. A metal transverse brace with at least one second opening, which connects opposite sides of the housing together, is arranged in the cavity in the region of the ignition electrode, wherein the metal transverse brace is made of a first metal material in a central region and a second metal material in a region contacting the housing.
