Redundant pressure control
An electricity generating device comprising a housing; a first lobed rotor and a second lobed rotor rotatably arranged in a fluid passage enclosed by the housing such that the lobes of the first and the second lobed rotor intermesh to create a barrier between a high-pressure and a low-pressure side of the housing during operation of the device; a first electricity generator to which the first lobed rotor is coupled, the first electricity generator being capable of varying the load of the first lobed rotor; and a second electricity generator to which the second lobed rotor is coupled, the second electricity generator being capable of varying the load of the second lobed rotor. There is also provided a method of synchronizing rotational positions of a first lobed rotor coupled to a first electricity generator and a second lobed rotor connected to a second electricity generator in a turbine.
Automatic height adjusting paddle wheel
An automatic height adjusting paddle wheel comprising a housing, where the housing includes a pair of side portions; a paddle wheel positioned along a shaft within the housing; a pair of hoists attached to shaft on each side of the paddle wheel, where each hoists includes a cable coupled to a top portion of the housing; a means to detect a water level fastened to the cable within the hoists, where the means to detect the water level activates the hoists to lift the shaft as the water level raises and lowers in turn raising and lowering the paddle wheel; and a generator at each end of the shaft, where the generator produces electric power as the paddle wheel rotates within the water.
Reciprocating fluid energy device
A reciprocating fluid-energy device to be used in a flowing fluid, having a foil, an upstream support member, a downstream support member, and a frame, where the frame retains the device in place within the flowing fluid, the support members movably attach the foil to the frame, and the foil moves laterally back and forth across the direction of the flow of the fluid, with changes in direction of the movement of the foil occurring automatically and spontaneously without external intervention other than the force of the flowing fluid.
WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A water treatment system comprising a housing adapted to receive a flow of water. An electrolytic treatment system disposed within the housing, for producing one or more product substances to treat the water. A hydro generation system disposed within the housing, for generating power from the flow of water. An electronic control system disposed within the housing, for receiving and managing the electrical power produced by the hydro generation system, and for controlling the transfer of electrical power to the electrolytic treatment system to control the production of the one or more product substances.
ENERGIZED FLUID NOZZLES FOR SPLASH PADS
A nozzle assembly for residential splash pads can include a housing disposed at an interface of the residential splash pad and one or more channels configured to direct a flow of a fluid out of the nozzle assembly and into the residential splash pad. An energy-emitting fixture (such as an LED) can be disposed within the housing and configured to emit energy into the residential splash pad. The nozzle assembly can include a generator and a turbine connected to the generator. The nozzle assembly can further include a flow-diverting mechanism to direct the flow of the fluid to the turbine and increase the velocity of the flow of the fluid at a turbine interface.
Stabilization of hydraulic machines with S-zone characteristics
This method for stabilizing the rotation speed of a hydraulic machine having S-characteristic and comprising a distributor (9) is adapted to modify a water flow, so that the machine can be coupled to a grid. The method comprises the steps of calculating an orientation of the distributor (9); and orienting the distributor according to the calculated orientation. The method further comprises the steps of providing an electric torque to the machine so as to reach a target speed.
Method and apparatus for generating energy from a flowing water current
A system for generating energy from a water current flowing in a body of water. For example, the system may have a generator assembly operable to generate energy in response to the flow of the current and an anchor assembly located at the bed of the body of water, where the generator assembly is attached to the anchor assembly, is held between the bed and the surface of the body of water, and is rotatable about a substantially vertical axis with respect to the anchor assembly. For another example, the generator assembly may include a housing that is held in an upstream orientation when in use, and an impellor assembly located within the housing and including a plurality of blades arranged to be contacted by the flow of the water when in use.
Booster assembly and apparatus
The present invention provides a booster apparatus (10) for entraining gas in a flowing second fluid. The booster apparatus comprises a booster housing (116) for receiving a fluid. The booster apparatus has at least one inlet (123) through which a first fluid passes to be entrained in the second fluid when the second fluid is flowing through the booster housing. The present invention also provides a booster assembly (12) comprising a booster apparatus (10) and a fluid motive mechanism such as a turbine unit (11).
RENEWABLE ENERGY-DRIVEN CARBON CYCLE ECONOMIC AND ECOLOGICAL OPERATING SYSTEMS
An integrated system for exploiting renewable energy sources based upon carbon dioxide captured from the atmosphere is provided, the system comprising: a solar energy collector; apparatus for capturing CO.sub.2 from the atmosphere; a wind power driven electrical generator; water power driven electrical generator; electric power distribution control means from the renewable energy sources; energy storage systems; water desalinating means and water electrolysis means powered by the renewably generated electricity; hydrocarbon fuel preparation means utilizing the hydrogen and the carbon dioxide generated by this system; and a body of saline water adjacent the land on which the integrated system is built.
