Vertical axis wind turbine having vertical rotor apparatus
In a vertical rotor apparatus that rotates in response to a moving fluid, a shaft defines an axis of rotor rotation. Rotor blades are longitudinally aligned in parallel with the shaft and each rotor blade defines an axis of blade rotation. A sensor generates a signal when any of the rotor blades are within rotor azimuthal angles of blade stall regions. A controller generates blade pitch information for the blade stall regions and an actuator, which is mechanically coupled to each of the rotor blades, alters blade pitch about the axis of blade rotation in accordance with the blade pitch information.

Rotary machine comprising a rotor placed in a fluid and equipped with orientable blades
A fluidic rotor rotary machine has a rotor comprising at least one blade (4) mounted on an arm (2) rotating about a main axis (1) of the rotor, the rotor being held by a support structure (5) in an orientation such that said axis (1) is essentially perpendicular to the fluid flow direction, the blade (4) being pivotally mounted about a rotational axis (3) parallel to the main axis (1), the machine being characterized in that it comprises means for generating a relative rotational movement of the blade (4) relative to the arm (2) at the rotational axis (3), thereby varying the blade angle, said means comprising an eccentric mechanism rotating on said blade rotational axis. Application in particular to propellers and generators operating according to Lipp-type or Voith-Schneider-type kinematics, with possible mode switching.
Omni-Directional Shaftless Wind Turbine
A present invention describes unique wind turbine assembly in a shape of closed hollow cylinder formed by two sets of three adjustable to positive and negative pitch horizontal blades supported instead of central shaft by three vertical cylindrical blades, which makes this turbine responsive to omni-directional wind. Proposed design concept provides with: Significant increase of turbine efficiency exceeding 60%, which after coupling this rotor with a generator of 60% efficiency leads to overall wind generator efficiency exceeding 40%. Low turbine inertia requiring moderate start up winds and reducing turbine vibrations. Noiseless turbine operation due to its rotation around vertical axis. Environmental friendliness as low operating speed does not generate strong turbulent air flow capable to challenge birds and bugs existence. No electronic control of blades angle of attack. Ease of manufacturing and maintaining together with their reduced cost.
Conducted analysis of the proposed configuration of the wind turbine shows no necessity of additional top support for a personal use wind generator, while requires one for more powerful (community) wind turbines. Proposed additionally supporting turbine tetrahedron beam frame resolves this issue allowing increase of power of such wind generators.

The apparatus comprises: a cylinder having an opening presenting perpendicular to a flow of air in use such that, in use, air flows through the cylinder; and means for generating power based upon the flow of air through the cylinder.
Electrical power generation system using renewable energy
The electrical power generation system using renewable energy is particularly adapted to provide electrical power to an independent or remotely situated electrical device such as a street light, emergency call box, or illuminated road sign. The system includes a pivotally mounted venturi with vanes assuring that the venturi is oriented into the prevailing wind. A vertical axis wind turbine is installed in the venturi throat, and drives a shaft extending through the column upon which the venturi is installed to a generator at the base of the column. The venturi and vanes may include photovoltaic cells thereon for further electrical power. The venturi may be heated from a geothermal source, and may include a variable diameter internal wall to adjust the cross-sectional area of the throat of the venturi. The use of functionally graded materials and other phase change materials may also improve the performance of the device.
