SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EMISSIONS TESTING A COMPRESSOR, TURBINE, OR ENGINE
20170248137 · 2017-08-31 ·

A mobile compressed natural gas (CNG) vessel and unloader are used to supply CNG to a compressor during regulatory emissions testing of the compressor (e.g., U.S. EPA's Quad J testing). CNG output by the compressor is recirculated to an inlet of the unloader so that it is reused during the emissions testing. Lean CNG from the vessel may be used to power the compressor during the testing. The unloader ensures that the compressor is run at at least a predetermined load factor during the emissions testing.

Drive train of a vehicle

A drive train (1) includes an internal combustion engine (2) and working hydraulics (4) having at least one hydraulic pump (7). When operated as a pump, the hydraulic pump (7) sucks hydraulic fluid from a tank (9) and delivers into a delivery line (10) that leads to the working hydraulics (4). When operated as a motor, the hydraulic pump (7) is supplied with hydraulic fluid from a hydraulic accumulator (25). The drive train (1) has a charge pump (20) to supply a charging circuit (23). The charge pump (20), when operated as a pump, sucks hydraulic fluid out of the tank (9) and delivers into a charge pressure line (22) that leads to a charging circuit (23), and the charge pump (20) when operated as a motor is supplied with hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic accumulator (25).

Systems are provided comprising at least one driving cylinder comprising a driving chamber and a driving piston within the driving chamber. The driving piston separates the driving chamber into a driving fluid zone for receiving a driving fluid and a buffer zone for receiving a buffer fluid. The driving piston is movable in the driving chamber by the driving fluid. The systems may also comprise a driven cylinder comprising a driven chamber and a driven piston moveable in the driven chamber. The driven piston is connected to and driven by the driving piston to move within the driven chamber. The driven chamber comprises an input port configured to receive a driven fluid at a first, lower pressure into the driven chamber and an output port configured to expel the driven fluid at a second, higher pressure from the driven chamber when the driven fluid is pressurized by the driven piston. The buffer fluid is different from the driving fluid and the driven fluid, and the buffer fluid in the buffer zone separates the driving fluid from the driven fluid.

A turbocharger includes a turbine, a compressor, and a bearing housing forming a bearing bore. A bearing arrangement is disposed between a shaft interconnecting the turbine and compressor wheels, and the bearing housing. The bearing arrangement includes first and second bearings formed between an outer bearing race element disposed within the bearing bore an inner bearing race element disposed within the outer bearing race element and between the outer bearing race element and the shaft. The inner bearing race element includes a flared portion extending radially outwardly to provide torsional and bending rigidity to the shaft.

Methods and systems are provided to adaptively control a hydraulic fluid supply to supply a driving fluid for applying a driving force on a piston in a gas compressor, the driving force being cyclically reversed between a first direction and a second direction to cause the piston to reciprocate in strokes. During a first stroke of the piston, a speed of the piston, a temperature of the driving fluid, and a load pressure applied to the piston is monitored. Reversal of the driving force after the first stroke is controlled based on the speed, load pressure, and temperature.

Dual turbine direct drive pump

A pump system and method of operating the same may utilize two relatively smaller turbines that are attached to and used to power a single pump. The two turbines are releasably coupled to the pump via respective one-way clutches, thereby enabling the use of one or both turbines at a time to power the pump. At low loads (e.g., low pump outputs), only one turbine operates to power the pump, and at higher loads (e.g., high pump outputs), both turbines operate to power the pump. By using two smaller turbines instead of one large turbine, the range-ability of the turbine power at the most efficient operating ranges is increased. This improves the fuel efficiency of the pump system. In addition, the dual turbine driven pump system provides increased reliability by preventing the loss of all power to the pump in the event of a turbine malfunction.

A method of mounting a bearing to an air compressor including a shaft element having a first end defining a central cylindrical recess and a second is disclosed, which includes the steps of: fixing the second end of the shaft element to a center of a gear; inserting the first end of the shaft element through a central hole of a bearing to have an annular step of the shaft element abutted an inner ring of the bearing; and hitting the first end of the shaft element by a striking tool with a central pin to form an outwardly extending rim on the first end of the shaft element. With the method, the bearing can be firmly fixed between the outwardly extending rim and the annular step of the shaft element.
