A monitoring system may include at least a strain gauge and a computing device for determining a bulk modulus of a fluid system of a pressure pump using strain measurements. The strain gauge may determine strain in a chamber of the pressure pump. The computing device may receive a strain signal generated by the strain gauge and may correlate the strain signal to pressure to determine a change in pressure during a period in which fluid is isolated in the chamber. The computing device may use the change in pressure during this period to determine a bulk modulus of the fluid system.

Bulk modulus monitoring system

A monitoring system may include at least a strain gauge and a computing device for determining a bulk modulus of a fluid system of a pressure pump using strain measurements. The strain gauge may determine strain in a chamber of the pressure pump. The computing device may receive a strain signal generated by the strain gauge and may correlate the strain signal to pressure to determine a change in pressure during a period in which fluid is isolated in the chamber. The computing device may use the change in pressure during this period to determine a bulk modulus of the fluid system.

An electric motor pump system includes a variable displacement pump, an electric motor connected to drive the variable displacement pump, a first control piston configured to limit an output pressure characteristic of the pump, and a second control piston controlled via a servo valve according to an output speed of the electric motor. In embodiments, the second piston is configured to maintain a substantially constant output flow of the pump as the output speed of the electric motor changes. With embodiments, the first and second control pistons may be configured to act on a yoke of the variable displacement pump.

Method and apparatus for pumping fluid

There is provided a method of transporting fluid produced from a fluid source having a source pressure to a fluid destination having a destination pressure rating. The method has the steps of determining a compressor power requirement based on the destination pressure rating and an estimated rate of flow. A compressor having a power rating that is less than the determined compressor power requirement is provided. An input of the compressor is connected to the fluid source and connecting an output of the compressor to the fluid destination. The compressor is operated in a high volume mode for a first portion of a compression stroke path and in a low volume move for a remainder of the compression stroke path such that the compressor simulates the output from a compressor with higher power rating.
