The toothbrush has a handle and a post, with a mechanism mechanically coupling the handle to the post permitting relative translational movement of the post with respect to the handle.

When the protrusion is at a pre-determined position within the slot, the actuator may return towards the first position. The actuator may be biased into the first position.
