Measuring backlash of a pump gear train

Apparatus and methods for measuring backlash of a gear train of a pump unit for pumping a fluid. An example method may include locking a crankshaft of the pump unit such that the crankshaft cannot rotate. The method may further include commencing operation of a processing device to receive rotational position measurements indicative of rotational position of an output shaft of a prime mover, cause the prime mover to rotate the output shaft in a first direction until the output shaft reaches a first rotational position, and cause the prime mover to rotate the output shaft in a second direction until the output shaft reaches a second rotational position. The processing device may then determine backlash of the gear train by determining rotational distance between the first rotational position of the output shaft and the second rotational position of the output shaft.

The wear-detecting unit detects the degree of wear of the bearing based on a change in the measured value caused by a change in the shape of the inner circumferential surface of the bearing.

A computer implemented method of predicting a future maintenance event of a pumping equipment on a wellbore pumping unit comprising loading a pump usage log and a pump maintenance log into a predictive maintenance model. The predictive maintenance model is trained by a machine learning process with a historical database of completed pumping jobs. The predictive maintenance model determines a probability of a future maintenance event in response to the current pump usage. The unit controller displays an alert of the remaining pump life in comparison to a threshold value for a recommended pump maintenance period or a required pump maintenance period.

The plunger pump comprises a fixed component, a motion component and a fault diagnosis module, the motion component is provided on the fixed component, and the motion component is movable relative to the fixed component. The fault diagnosis module comprises a temperature sensing component and a processing unit, the fixed component is provided with one or more temperature detection holes, the temperature sensing component is at least partially located in the one or more temperature detection holes, and the temperature sensing component is contactable to lubricating oil flowing through the motion component; the processing unit is connected to the temperature sensing component, and the processing unit performs monitoring and fault diagnosis on the plunger pump based on a temperature value sensed by the temperature sensing component.

A chemical delivery system connects to a chemical tank and includes a union connected to the tank outlet and providing an antirotation feature, in addition to threads, to prevent rotation of the assembly in response to asymmetric loads. A measuring tube alternately receives liquid from the tank and is isolated from the tank. While isolated from the tank, liquid is withdrawn from the tube by a pump under conditions allowing the pump to be calibrated. The assembly is cantilevered from the tank outlet and is of reduced length and weight producing a device which is not prone to overstress the tank outlet.
