A thermally powered fan assembly for blowing heated air from a fireplace includes a screen that is positionable in front of a fireplace. A blower is coupled to the screen and the blower urging air through the screen when the blower is turned on. In this way the blower urges heated air outwardly from the fireplace to enhance heating an area. A thermoelectric power supply is coupled to the screen wherein the thermoelectric power and the thermoelectric power supply produces an electrical current when the thermoelectric power supply is exposed to a thermal gradient. It this way the thermoelectric power supply converts heat from the fireplace into electrical current. The blower is electrically coupled to the thermoelectric power supply.

Apparatus and methods are described including a blood pump that includes an axial shaft, an impeller disposed on the axial shaft, a frame disposed around the impeller, and a motor disposed outside a subject's body, and configured to drive the impeller to pump blood from a distal end of the impeller to a proximal end of the impeller. A drive cable extends from outside the subject's body to the axial shaft, and is configured to impart rotational motion from the motor to the impeller by rotating. The drive cable is held in a preloaded state with respect to the frame, such that initiation of pumping of blood by rotation of the impeller does not cause the drive cable to axially elongate. The pump is hydraulically connected to the liquid system. A method of cooling the machine is also provided.

The present invention provides a vertical, axial flow oil pump (10). The oil pump includes: a casing (11), the casing having a cylindrical shape as a whole and being able to rotate around its own central axis (O); a suction port (12), located at a lower end of the casing in an axial direction, and configured to suck oil into the oil pump; a discharge port (13), located at an upper end of the casing in the axial direction, and configured to discharge the oil from the oil pump to outside; and an impeller (14), provided in and formed integrally with the casing. The impeller rotates together with the casing when the casing rotates, so that the oil is flowed from the suction port to the discharge port. The present invention also provides a scroll compressor having the oil pump.
