CLAMP BOLT AND ASSOCIATED ASSEMBLY
A clamp bolt providing a bolt and two nut, each nut being screwed on an end of the bolt. The clamp bolt further including two washers, mounted around the bolt, and axially positioned between the two nuts.
Interference fit fastener and method of fabricating same
An interference fit fastener (FIG. 1) and method of fabricating same is described.
Jamming methods and apparatus
A reconfigurable device comprises flexible bladder that encloses a jammable material. The geometry of the device can be altered by unjamming the jammable material (making it flexible), changing the shape of the device while it is flexible, and then jamming the jammable material (making it rigid). In some applications of this invention, a joint connects rigid arms. The ends of the rigid arms are enclosed in the bladder. By varying the stiffness of the jammable material in the bladder, the stiffness of the joint can be controlled.
CONNECTING METHOD AND CONNECTING APPARATUS
A connecting method includes: measuring at least one of control dimensions that influence a dimension of a member obtained by connection of a first member and a second member to each other, the second member including a connection insertion portion where the first member is inserted; determining, according to the at least one of the control dimensions, a relative position for positioning the first member and the second member by insertion of the first member in the connection insertion portion; heating the second member to a first temperature; inserting the first member in the connection insertion portion to place the first member and the second member in the relative position; and stopping the heating of the second member and maintaining the first member and the second member in the relative position.
IGNITER ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING IGNITER ASSEMBLY
An igniter assembly includes an igniter of an electric ignition type including: an ignition portion including an igniting agent; a holding portion made of resin and covering at least a portion of the ignition portion and holding the ignition portion; and an electro-conductive pin configured to energize the ignition portion, and also includes an igniter collar made of metal and to which the igniter is attached. The igniter collar includes a fixing portion surrounding the holding portion to fix it. The holding portion includes a protrusion portion formed continuously around a periphery of the holding portion and formed integrally with the holding portion. The protrusion portion is press-attached to the fixing portion in a state where the holding portion is fixed to the fixing portion.
Fastener and method of mounting the same in place
A fastener and a method of mounting the same in place includes a fitting portion, an engaging portion and a filler portion. The fastener passes through a sliding hole of an object, and then the fitting portion presses against the object, allowing a material of the object to enter or flow into the filler portion, so as to fit the fastener and the object firmly together. The engaging portion is engaged with or removed from another object. Therefore, the fastener and the method can couple together and separate at least two objects repeatedly and rapidly.
Damping force adjustable shock absorber
A crimp portion provided to a damping force adjustable shock absorber includes a crimp groove portion provided on an outer peripheral surface of a solenoid case along a circumferential direction thereof, and one end portion of a thin wall portion of a valve case that is contained while being bent in this crimp groove portion. The crimp groove portion includes an inclined surface inclined into a case 40 from a valve case side toward a solenoid case side. Due to this configuration, the damping force adjustable shock absorber can securely fix the solenoid case and the valve case by crimping while reducing a load on a solenoid block and a valve block due to the crimp fixation to a minimum load.
CONNECTING SLEEVE, PUSH-PULL ROD AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PUSH-PULL ROD
A connecting sleeve suitable for the production of a push-pull link bar includes a main body, a coupling section which is formed or arranged on the outer circumferential side on the main body, and a through bore, characterized in that the connecting sleeve has a first seal which is arranged at least partially on the outer circumferential side and a second seal which closes at least the through bore.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING VEHICLE
A method for manufacturing a vehicle in which a projected part formed on an assembly surface of one component and a recessed part formed on an assembly surface of the other component are fitted to each other so that the one component and the other component are assembled together is provided. A barb structure protruding outward and towards the root side of the projected part is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the projected part. Alternatively, a barb structure protruding inward and towards the root side of the recessed part is formed on an inner circumferential surface of the projected part and a groove into which the barb structure fits is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the projected part.
Tapered lead-in for interference fit fasteners
An assembly comprising first and second structural elements having aligned holes, a fastener that occupies at least respective portions of the holes without a surrounding sleeve, and a mating part that is coupled to the fastener. The fastener comprises: a head; a circular cylindrical shank extending from the head; a mating portion comprising external projections; and a transition portion disposed between the shank and the mating portion. The transition portion comprises a tapered lead-in section that meets the shank at a shank/lead-in intersection and a radiused lead-in section that meets the tapered lead-in section. The tapered lead-in section tapers gradually in a first axial direction toward the mating portion and has a first profile that is linear and a taper angle equal to or less than 20 degrees, while the radiused lead-in section curves abruptly in the first axial direction and has a second profile that is a circular arc having a radius.
