TELESCOPE SYSTEM AND METHOD

A series tailored athermally stabilized optical (STASO) telescope system (STASOS) and method (STASOM) is disclosed. The disclosed system/method separates an optical mirror source (OMS) and an optical focal target (OFT) via a first metering rod (FMR), second metering rod (SMR), and third metering rod (TMR) where the FMR, SMR, and TMR each comprise a first retaining rod (FRR) comprised of a material having a first thermal expansion (FTE) coefficient and a second retaining rod (SRR) comprised of a material having a second thermal expansion (STE) coefficient. The FMR, SMR, and TMR are constructed so as to be athermally stabilized to ensure that the OMS and OFT remain separated at a constant or controlled distance over a predetermined temperature range by selection of appropriate FTE and STE coefficients.

TELESCOPE SYSTEM AND METHOD

A series tailored athermally stabilized optical (STASO) telescope system (STASOS) and method (STASOM) is disclosed. The disclosed system/method separates an optical mirror source (OMS) and an optical focal target (OFT) via a series connection of a first metering tube (FMT) and a second metering tube (SMT) that have been selected to have complementary thermal expansion characteristics so as to keep the OMS and OFT at a predetermined optical focal distance (OFD) from one another. This OFD may constitute a static distance and/or may incorporate a positive and/or negative expansion with temperature that complements thermal characteristics of the OMS and/or OFT so as to stabilize the OFD between the OMS and OFT over a predetermined range of temperatures.

Pressure pad for screw and breakaway pressure screw

A fastener used to secure an electrical conductor includes a head, a shaft, and a pressure pad. The head has an inner surface for receiving a drive tool. The shaft has an outer surface including a threaded portion. The pressure pad can include a surface feature. The pressure pad can also be releasably, rotationally-fixed to the shaft through a breakaway portion.

The invention relates to a fastening device for fastening at least one mounting element to a threaded bolt, including a nut having a threaded bore and a clamping element that interacts with the nut and has an opening. The nut has a conical supporting region on the outside. In the mounted state, the nut engages at least partly in the opening of the clamping element and rests on a complimentary inner cone which the clamping element has. The nut has at least one slot which interrupts the nut wall over a sub region of the axial extent of the latter. The at least one slot opens at the axial end of the nut which is located closer to the larger diameter than to the smaller diameter of the conical supporting region is designated as the top end. The clamping element can be screwed into a mounting element.

Torque limiting set screw

A torque limiting fastener comprising a body. The body includes a threadform, an inner bore and a controlled break region. The body defines an elongated body extending from a first end to a second end, and the body includes an outer surface. The threadform extends at least partially between the first end and the second end along the outer surface. The inner bore extends from the second end at least partially toward the first end of the body. The controlled break region is positioned between the inner bore and the outer surface. The controlled break region includes an outer surface break point formed into the outer surface and an inner surface break point formed into the inner bore. The outer surface break point and the inner surface break point defining a shear plane therebetween.

Rivet for blind fasteners, associated setting tool and method for setting such a rivet

A rivet for blind fastening may include a screw with a handling element, a break groove, a head separated from the handling element by the break groove, and a threaded part. The rivet may also include a sleeve with a collar and a tubular shank having an internal thread intended to come into engagement with the threaded part of the screw. The handling element includes a first handling portion able to guide introduction of the rivet in a setting tool, and a second handling portion able to transmit a torque, the two handling portions being separated by a blocking portion able to limit an axial movement of the rivet in a setting tool. A setting nose may be used for installing such a rivet, and the rivet, setting nose and a setting method can be used in the assembly of aircraft structures.

A fastening system includes a first fastening element attachable to a structure and which has a base portion for plugging through a structural opening, a second fastening element, and a plastically deformable funnel element. The funnel element has a funnel-like basic shape with a funnel opening. The second fastening element can be introduced through the funnel opening into a receiving opening of the base portion and fastened therein and has a collar which faces away from the receiving opening and which is larger than the funnel opening. The funnel element is designed to be deformed from the funnel-like basic shape into a flat, disk-like final shape by the collar of the second fastening element during the fastening of the second fastening element.
