The apparatus further includes first and second set screws coupled to the support fitting, where each set screw has a substantially conical tip. The first and second set screws are oriented such that a plane bisecting the first and second set screws is substantially perpendicular to the first axis. An edge of the conical tip of the first set screw is substantially parallel to an edge of the conical tip of the second set screw.

In implementations of a pressure lock retention fastener, the fastener assembly includes an insert sized for insertion into a fastener hole in a first panel. The fastener assembly has a threaded collet sized to slide in the insert and has expandable flanges that extend below the insert. The expandable flanges are sized for insertion into an aligned hole in a second panel. The fastener assembly also includes a screw installable through the insert to engage the threaded collet. The screw exerts a force that pushes the expandable flanges outward as screw rotation drives the screw into the threaded collet, and ridge locks of the expandable flanges seat up against the second panel effective to fasten the panels together. In implementations, a plate is installable between the panels with slotted holes having anti-rotation tabs that prevent a fastener assembly from spinning in the panel holes.

The present subject matter relates to a connector for two components of which the first component has a first bore extending from a bearing surface and the second component has an opening extending from a bearing surface and has a second bore traversing the opening. The connector comprises a retaining bolt with a threaded portion for screwing into or behind the first bore and an unthreaded portion for inserting into the opening. The unthreaded portion is traversed by a transverse bore, and a tensioning bolt with a conical end, which, when the retaining bolt is screwed into or behind the first bore and inserted into the opening, can be inserted into the second bore and into the transverse bore, to align them relative to one another and thus tension the bearing surfaces against one another.

The process involves annealing to soften the stamped hollow screw, followed by thread rolling, and then age hardening the hollow screw. As such, the resultant hollow screw is relatively lightweight, about 50% the mass of a solid core screw made from the same material, with a sufficient thread strength to meet most aerospace applications and contributes to important aircraft fuel economy.
