A security plug (10) adapted to be inserted into the female socket (18) of a fastener (20) to prevent a tool, such as an Allen key, engaging in the female socket. The plug (10) has an outer surface (22) complementary to the female socket (18) and a retaining member (14) that retains the plug (10) in the female socket (18), and at least one removal portion (26, 70) adapted to be engaged by a second tool (100), whereby engagement of the second tool (100) and the plug (10) allows forces applied by the second tool (100) to the plug (10) to withdraw the plug from the female socket against the action of the retaining member. The second tool and the removal portion (26, 70) may have complementary self-holding tapers and the retaining member (14) may be a magnet or one or more biased members that engage side walls(s) of the female socket.

Fastener with attached compression limiting sleeve

A fastener system that includes a fastener, a compression-limiting sleeve, and a retainer which generally retains the compression-limiting sleeve on the fastener. By providing that the compression-limiting sleeve is not staked to the fastener, existing technology can be used, and no extra staking processing step needs to be performed. The fastener may comprise a conventional metal threaded screw or bolt, possibly having a recess in its head for receiving a driver. Preferably, the compression-limiting sleeve is cold headed as opposed to being stamped, and preferably includes a counter bore which assures that an end of the retainer is below an end surface of the compression-limiting sleeve. Preferably, the retainer is formed of a thermoplastic elastomer or another suitable material.

Fixing structure configured to fix a screw

A fixing structure, configured to fix screw. Screw includes wide portion and narrow portion. Fixing structure includes plate part, holding component and elastic positioning component. Plate part includes top surface, bottom surface and mount groove. Mount groove penetrates through top surface and bottom surface and narrow portion is disposed through mount groove to allow wide portion to rest on top surface. Holding component and top surface together form space. Elastic positioning component is disposed on plate part. When wide portion is located in space and between holding component and top surface, and elastic positioning component is in holding state and located at side of wide portion, wide portion is prevented from being moved away from space. When elastic positioning component is switched to released state, elastic positioning component is removed from side of wide portion so that wide portion is allowed to move away from space.

High security fastener with external shroud retainer

An improved fastener comprising a fastener body orientated about a central axis and having a tool-engaging portion, a threaded fastening portion and a shroud-receiving portion; a shroud concentrically mounted in the shroud-receiving portion to rotate relative to the fastener body under an applied external torque and having an outwardly extending annular shoulder; the shroud-receiving portion comprising an inwardly deformed stop radially overlapping the outwardly extending annular shoulder of the shroud; and the deformed stop of the shroud-receiving portion and the annular shoulder of the shroud forming a shroud-retaining element restraining the shroud from movement in at least a first axial direction along the central axis.

Wheel fastener alarm

A wheel fastener alarm assembly is provided having a fastener body with a first portion defining a wrenching surface and a cavity, and a second portion with a threaded portion to attach and detach from a wheel of a vehicle. A sensor array is disposed in the cavity of fastener body to detect an attribute of the fastener body and generate an output signal based on the attribute of the fastener body. An antenna connected to the sensor array to transmit the signal to a remote location. A cap is secured to the first portion of the fastener body and covers the wrenching surface and the cavity opening to define a capped fastener body.

STEERING COLUMN FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

A steering column for a motor vehicle may include a crash device that has at least two components that have mutually facing surfaces. The at least two components may be connected to each other by means of a shear element that is arranged in an opening passing at least partially through the components such that the shear element is broken in two if the components move relative to each other. To improve the predetermined breaking connection, the opening may have, in at least one edge region bounding one of the mutually facing surfaces, a widened portion that extends at least over a partial circumferential region and is open towards the respective other surface.

SEALED FASTENER CAP AND RELATED METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

A fastener cap system can include a rigid cap and a sealing member which forms a liquid barrier so moisture is impaired from entering a space under the rigid cap and/or around a fastener installed through it. The sealing member can include a central seal disposed on an upper surface of the cap, the seal extending beyond a head of a fastener, which extends through the cap and sealing member, so that moisture is impaired from entering the cap under the head. The sealing member can be above and below respective lowermost and uppermost cap surfaces so the cap system can be fed cleanly and efficiently through a cap feeder during installation via a tool. The sealing member, which can have a higher coefficient of friction than the rigid cap, thereby does not drag along a cap feeder and cause feeding issues. Related methods of manufacture and use are provided.
