Rotary machine having magnetic and mechanical bearings
A rotary machine provides a stator having a stator casing, and a rotor shaft having a rotational axis and supported in the stator casing by at least one radial magnetic bearing. The rotary machine further provides an axial mechanical thrust bearing being disposed proximate a radial surface of one end of the rotor shaft, the axial mechanical thrust bearing, including a rolling element located on the rotational axis of the rotor shaft.

Machined cage for thrust ball bearing, design method of the same, and thrust ball bearing including the cage
In a copper alloy machined cage for a thrust ball bearing, an inside surface of a pocket includes a cylindrical surface, a support surface which is continuous with the cylindrical surface and contacts a ball in an axial direction, and two protruding portions which are formed at an equal interval in a circumferential direction of the pocket, at a ball insertion side of the pocket which is opposite to the support surface in the axial direction and protrude from the cylindrical surface. The protruding portions prevent falling out of the ball from a ball insertion side opening of the pocket and are either elastically deformed or elastic-plastically deformed by the ball during insertion of the ball into the pocket.
DAMPER WITH ADJUSTABLE SEAL
A bearing assembly includes a case, a bearing spring positioned inside the case, a first seal positioned between the case and the bearing spring, and a second seal. The a second seal is positioned between the case and the bearing spring and is spaced apart from the first seal, wherein the second seal is an adjustable seal that is movable between a closed position and an opened position to inhibit or allow, respectively, a fluid to flow from a cavity that is defined by the case, the bearing spring, the first seal and the second seal.

Method of using a tolerance ring
A tolerance ring has a band with outwardly extending corrugated protrusions forming waves that engage an outer surface of a shaft. At one end of the tolerance ring is an inwardly flared guide surface extending axially and radially from the band. The guide surface acts as a tapered entrance to a bore of a housing to assist during assembly.

Squeeze film damper with low pressure reservoirs
A squeeze film damper includes a static member and a whirling member positioned adjacent to the static member. A gap is formed between the static member and the whirling member. A pressurized oil reservoir is formed in the gap between the static member and the whirling member. A first low pressure oil reservoir is formed in a first cavity in the whirling member, wherein the first low pressure oil reservoir is positioned on a first end of the pressurized oil reservoir. A second low pressure oil reservoir is formed in a second cavity in the whirling member, wherein the second low pressure oil reservoir is positioned on a second end of the pressurized oil reservoir. A first primary seal is positioned between the first end of the pressurized oil reservoir and the first low pressure oil reservoir, and a second primary seal is positioned between the second end of the pressurized oil reservoir and the second low pressure oil reservoir.
