Combined insulator and conductor assembly for bearings with prong-locked conductor

A combined insulator and conductor assembly is for a bearing disposable between a shaft and a housing and includes an annular insulator disposeable about the bearing outer ring. The insulator is configured to prevent electric current flow between the outer ring and the housing and includes one or more axial mounting tabs. An electrical conductor has an outer radial end, an inner radial end and at least one retainer, the at least one retainer being engageable with the at least one mounting tab to releasably couple the conductor with the insulator. Each retainer includes a radially-extending prong engageable with a separate tab. The conductor outer radial end or/and a portion of the conductor between the outer and inner ends is conductively engageable with the housing and the conductor inner radial end being conductively engageable with the shaft so as to provide a conductive path between the shaft and the housing.

An example bearing disclosed herein includes a movable portion, a race to receive the movable portion along a first surface to thereby permit movement of the movable portion within the race, and a liner disposed on the first surface of the race, the liner having a first layer and a second layer, the first layer disposed on top of the second layer, the first layer visually distinctive from the second layer.

An encoder includes a rotatable encoder disc. A clamp is fixed to the encoder disc to rotate therewith. The clamp includes an arcuately extending body presenting a radially inner face and arcuately spaced apart ends defining a gap therebetween. The inner face extends along a clamping path and engages a rotating component to secure the clamp to the rotating component to rotate therewith. The clamp includes an adjustment mechanism for modifying an arcuate extent of the gap by shifting the ends relative to one another and, in turn, modifying the clamping path. The body defines a radially extending cutout facilitating bending of the body in association with expansion or contraction of the gap and modification of the clamping path. The clamp includes a raised boss extending from a front face thereof. The boss presents a contact face spaced axially from the front face and fixedly engaging the encoder disc.

A plastic sliding component for mounting without lubricant in a sliding bearing is proposed, having a moulded part which is manufactured from plastic and has a sliding face for movably guiding two bearing parts relative to one another. An electric function circuit with a sensor function for acquiring an operating parameter is arranged on the moulded part. The invention proposes that the function circuit comprises at least one conductor track structure which is formed on the moulded part as a carrier of the conductor track structure. The function circuit can preferably be applied to the prefabricated moulded part, which is made of plastic, by means of an additive fabrication method (AM method).

An encoder for a wheel bearing includes a carrier plate ring and a magnetic encoding ring. The carrier plate ring has a radially running first leg, and an axially running second leg arranged on an outer ring or on an inner ring of the wheel bearing. The carrier plate ring has, on the radially running first leg, cut-outs distributed over its circumference. The first leg has a fold for forming a folded portion, and the folded portion at least partly covers the cut-outs. The carrier plate ring is at least partly surrounded by the magnetic encoding ring. The encoding ring has unipolar magnetization and at least partly comes into contact in the cut-outs.

BEARING ASSEMBLY

A bearing assembly includes a bearing unit configured to support a rotating component relative to a stationary component and having a first stationary bearing ring configured to be connected to the stationary component in a rotationally fixed manner by a bearing carrier and a second rotatable bearing ring configured to be connected to the rotating component. The bearing carrier includes at least one electrical conductor configured to make electrical contact with the bearing unit and to make electrical contact with the stationary component or to be electrically connected to the stationary component when the bearing carrier is mounted to the stationary component.
