Quick disconnect pillow block bearing
A quick release pillow block bearing assembly has end pieces, a center bearing housing carrying a bearing, and quick release pins for retaining the bearing housing with the end pieces. The invention enables replacement and or repair of the bearing and its counterparts easily, efficiently, and less often. The user need only remove the quick release pins remove the bearing housing and thereby gain access to the housing, which also provides access to the bearing/shaft and counterparts. Upon removal of the quick release pins, the center housing may be removed from the structure, while the end pieces stay in place, allowing one to remove and install the bearing quickly. It also enables removal of the shaft in seconds, thus permitting easy and quick replacement of worn sections of the bearing.
BEARING FACES WITH FLUID CHANNELS FOR GEAR PUMPS
A bearing carrier has a bearing body including a first material. The bearing body has an exterior surface defining a bridge land with a finger cut and rotatably supports a first and second gear. The first and second gears intermesh with one another for pressurizing fluid traversing the gears between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet defined in a housing enveloping the bearing carrier.
The bridge land is defined in a second material integral with the first material. Methods fabricating a bearing carrier for a gear pump are also disclosed.
Uptower wind turbine component replacement
A method for performing uptower maintenance of a wind turbine in order to replace the main bearing on the turbine shaft is disclosed. Embodiments of this method to perform maintenance may include installing a rotor lock to resist rotation of the main shaft during maintenance, providing a lifting device in order to elevate the main shaft, removing the main bearing from its main bearing housing, and installing a replacement split main bearing. A crane may also be installed uptower to assist in the maintenance.
Oil filter adapter and method for obtaining positive oil pressure external to engine
An oil filter adapter provides lubrication delivery for lubricating an engine bearing provides high reliability through an externally-supplied lubrication. The oil filter adapter may be supplied as part of a kit including a lubrication delivery tube for supplying the external lubrication to a mounting flange of the bearing.
BEARING MODULE FOR ADJUSTING A ROTOR BLADE ANGLE OF ATTACK IN AN UNDERWATER POWER PLANT
A bearing module for adjusting a rotor blade angle of attack in an underwater power plant includes a rotor-blade shaft, at least two bearings for supporting the rotor-blade shaft, the at least two bearings being axially spaced from each other on the rotor-blade shaft, a first attachment structure for producing a mechanical connection to a rotor-blade hub, a second attachment structure for producing a mechanical connection to the rotor blade, and a third attachment structure for producing a mechanical connection to a blade adjustment mechanism, wherein the bearing module is an installation unit such that it can be assembled at one location and transported to a second location where rotor blades may be attached.
AUTOMATED DEVICE FOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING BEARINGS
An installation for coating moving metal strips includes: a roller; a roller bearing connected to one end of the roller; an automatic locking and unlocking device for automatically locking and unlocking the roller, the automatic locking and unlocking device including: a support arm having a bearing seat for supporting the roller bearing, a movable retaining arm of the roller bearing, the movable retaining arm being pivotally mounted on the support arm about an axis parallel to the roller such that the movable retaining arm moves laterally away from the roller bearing when the movable retaining arm pivots, and an actuator for moving the movable retaining arm from a locking position to an unlocking position of the roller, the locking position being a position in which the roller is in use, and the unlocking position being a position allowing the roller to be removed from the device.
METHOD FOR PROLONGING THE LIFE OF A PRODUCT
A method for prolonging the life of a product that is subjected to Hertzian contact stress when in use and which includes a metal surface having a mean surface profile, the metal surface having at least one crater extending below the mean surface profile and a shoulder at the crater extending above the mean surface profile. The method includes performing a remanufacturing process to remove at least part of the shoulder to produce a finished remanufactured product having all of the crater, or performing a remanufacturing process to remove all of the shoulder and a first portion of the crater and stopping the remanufacturing process before the entire crater is removed to produce a finished remanufactured product having a second portion of the crater extending from the mean surface profile.
Bearing arrangement and method
A method of determining the axial load on load-sharing thrust bearings including: providing first and second thrust bearings, each including an inner race and an outer race supported by at least one resilient element; applying a test axial load to each of the first and second thrust bearings to elastically deform the at least one resilient element so as to axially displace the outer race; determining the test axial displacement of each outer race to obtain calibration data comprising values of axial load versus axial displacement; applying an in-service axial load to the first and second thrust bearings to elastically deform the resilient elements so as to axially displace the respective outer races; measuring the in-service axial displacement of each outer race; and based on the measured in-service axial displacements, inferring from the calibration data the values of the in-service axial loads on the first and second thrust bearings.
METHOD FOR PROLONGING THE LIFE OF A PRODUCT AND A REMANUFACTURED PRODUCT
A method for prolonging the service life of a product that is subjected to Hertzian contact stress when in use, and which includes a metal surface having at least one indentation, includes removing a first portion of the at least one indentation from the metal surface to provide a remanufactured product having a remanufactured metal surface having a second portion of the at least one indentation, obtaining information about the second portions of the at least one indentation, using the information to estimate potential stress concentrations that are detrimental to lubrication conditions and/or fatigue life of the remanufactured metal surface using analytical modelling, and providing a prediction of the performance of the remanufactured product based on the estimation.
