Embodiments disclosed herein relate to bearing assemblies and methods of manufacturing. In an embodiment, a bearing assembly includes a support ring and bearing elements. The bearing elements are mounted to and distributed circumferentially about an axis of the support ring. At least one of the bearing elements includes a polycrystalline diamond table, a substrate bonded to the polycrystalline diamond table, bonding region defined by the substrate and the polycrystalline diamond table, and a corrosion resistant region. The corrosion resistant region includes a corrosion resistant material that covers at least a portion of at least one lateral surface of the bonding region. The corrosion resistant region prevents corrosion of at least some material in the bonding region covered by the corrosion resistant region (e.g., during use). Other embodiments employ one or more sacrificial anodes as an alternative to or in combination with the corrosion resistant region.

POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT PUMP INCLUDING A PLAIN BEARING FOR COMPONENTS EXPERIENCING AN OSCILLATING MOTION AT LOW SPEEDS

A positive displacement pump of this disclosure includes a plain bearing comprising a composite material located between a first component that may experience an oscillating motion at low speed (or at low speed and high loads) and a second component located about the first. The pump may be a mud pump configured to circulate a drilling fluid into and out of a well bore during an oil/gas well drilling operation. The first component may be a wrist pin of a crosshead and the second component may be an end of a connecting rod. The composite material may be a bearing grade material that is self-lubricating and wet or contaminant tolerant or resistant. The composite material may include polyketone. In retrofit or new applications, the plain bearing may include a sleeve containing a liner made of the composite material. No external lubrication may be required, eliminating the need for lubricating structures.

An implementation of the constant velocity (CV) joint may include a drive shaft and a housing. The drive shaft may include a first axis and a plurality of drive shaft lugs on a circumference of the drive shaft. Each of the plurality of drive shaft lugs may include a first surface having a first arcuate cross-section curved about a second axis and a second surface having a second arcuate cross-section that is curved about a third axis. The housing may include a third surface that is configured to contact the first surface to receive a rotational force from the drive shaft. The lug may define an elongate slit along a length of the lug.

Compound angle bearing assembly

A bearing housing for a bottomhole assembly of a downhole tool includes an upper bearing housing, lower bearing housing, and a driveshaft. The upper bearing housing and lower bearing housing include a bore defining a bore longitudinal axis. The outer surface of the upper bearing housing defining a bearing housing longitudinal axis, the bearing housing longitudinal axis formed at an angle to the bore longitudinal axis. The upper bearing housing may be formed by forming a bore through an upper bearing housing blank and subsequently forming the outer surface of the upper bearing housing concentric with the bearing housing longitudinal axis.
