A magnetic bearing portion can include a plurality of rings disposed next to one another. An HTS bearing portion can include a magnet. The bearing portions can be biased toward an alignment with one another. One bearing portion can rotate relative to another bearing portion.
SLIDING ELEMENT COMPRISING A PIGMENT
A sliding element for an engine may include a polymer-based overlay layer and a metallic substrate. The polymer-based overlay layer may include a polymer-based matrix, a metal particulate, and a pigment. The pigment may have a hardness of at least 4 on the Mohs hardness scale.
Liquid Injection Ring and Refrigerant Lubricated Bearing Assembly
The present application relates to a liquid injection ring and a refrigerant lubricated bearing assembly, the liquid injection ring includes a ring body; the ring body is provided with a liquid storage chamber and a plurality of liquid guide holes; the liquid storage chamber is arranged in a circle around the axis of the ring body; the inlets of the liquid guide holes communicate with the liquid storage chamber; the outlets of the liquid guide holes face the end surface of a to-be-lubricated bearing; and the plurality of liquid guide holes are uniformly distributed in a spaced manner along the circumferential direction of the ring body.
Turbine generator and method of operating a turbine generator
A turbine generator contains a turbine part and a generator part. The turbine contains a turbine wheel. A sealing arrangement is arranged between the turbine wheel and the generator part, the sealing effect of which varies during operation. The generator part further has a generator shaft, which is supported by an axial bearing configured as a magnetic bearing with two coils axially spaced apart from each other. A bearing ring is arranged between these coils with an axial distance from the coils. To ensure a safe operation, a setpoint value for the axial distance is varied to change the sealing effect of the sealing arrangement. Alternatively or additionally, it is provided that when a current threshold of a coil current is exceeded, a control signal is emitted to control the flow of the medium or the rotational speed.
AIR BEARING FOR USE AS SEAL
In order to effect a seal a porous material which comprises one side of two opposing surfaces is used to restrict and evenly distribute externally pressurized gas, liquid, steam, etc. between the two surfaces, exerting a force which is opposite the forces from pressure differences or springs trying to close the two faces together and so may create a non-contact seal that is more stable and reliable than hydrodynamic seals currently in use. A non-contact bearing is also disclosed having opposing surfaces with relative motion and one surface issuing higher than ambient pressure through a porous restriction, wherein the porous restriction is part of a monolithic porous body, or a porous layer, attached to lands containing a labyrinth, the porous restriction and lands configured to not distort more than 10% of a gap created from differential pressure between each side of the porous restriction.
Bearing assembly support
A bearing assembly support comprises a body, the body defining: a thrust surface; an aperture extending through the body; and at least one passageway along which a lubricant can flow away from the thrust surface during use. The thrust surface is suitable for contacting an end of a bearing assembly. The aperture is suitable for receipt of a shaft when supported by the bearing assembly. Each passageway may be defined by a recess on the thrust surface or a cut away section that extends through the body from the thrust surface to an opposite surface of the body. The body may be a housing for receipt of a bearing assembly or an end cap for a housing.
Tilting pad bearing assemblies, and bearing apparatuses and methods of using the same
Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to tilting pad bearing assemblies, bearing apparatuses including the tilting pad bearing assemblies, and methods of using the bearing apparatuses. The tilting pad bearing assemblies disclosed herein include a plurality of tilting pads. At least some of the superhard tables exhibit a thickness that is at least about 0.120 inch and/or at least two layers having different wear and/or thermal characteristics.
Axial bearing for a shaft, in particular for the shaft of a hydraulic machine
An axial bearing for absorbing high axial loads of a shaft has a support structure and a load transmission device for transmitting the load from the shaft to the support structure. The support structure includes a bearing plate, a plurality of spring elements, and a plurality of bearing shoes. The spring elements are supported on the bearing plate and arranged in groups, and each group of spring elements being covered by a bearing shoe. The load transmission device is firmly connected to the shaft and has a tracking ring which is arranged such that the tracking ring can rotate on the bearing shoes. The bearing plate and the tracking ring are in each case arranged concentrically with the shaft, and the axial bearing has an advantageously designed measuring device for measurement of the mean distance between the bearing plate and a bearing shoe.
Externally pressurized porous gas bearings or seals operating on refrigerant utilizing shear heat from rotating shaft to achieve increased load capacity
An externally pressurized porous gas bearing for operating within a refrigerant environment is disclosed. The gas bearing utilizes shear heating from rotation of a rotor, thereby increasing the pressure and load capacity of the externally pressurized porous gas bearing. The gas bearing is capable of operating when the refrigerant is in a liquid phase and when the refrigerant is in a gaseous phase.
Component Assembly for a Motor Vehicle
A component assembly for a motor vehicle includes a housing and an actuating element that is rotatable about an axis. The assembly also includes an actuator which is configured to cause a rotation of the actuating element. The assembly further includes a rotatable shaft which extends along a shaft axis and is disposed between the actuating element and the actuator and which is coupled to the actuating element and the actuator. The shaft is guided through a first through opening in the housing. A sealing system is provided in a radial direction perpendicular to the shaft axis so as to be between the shaft and a first internal wall of the first through opening.
