Electric parking brake device

Provided is an electric parking brake device in which a drum brake includes braking gap automatic adjustment means and a parking brake lever, and the operation of an electric actuator that drives the parking brake lever is controlled by a control unit. When an application operation time of the electric actuator (38) by the time when a parking brake state is obtained has exceeded a predetermined application operation end determination time (T2), the control unit (C) determines that the braking gap automatic adjustment means (18) is abnormal. With this configuration, at the time of obtaining the parking brake state, the presence or absence of abnormality in the braking gap automatic adjustment means can be determined.

Brake assembly with improved brake shoe retention

A brake assembly having a brake shoe and an anchor pin. The brake shoe may have an anchor pin slot that may include first and second connecting surfaces that extend from an arcuate bearing surface. The anchor pin may have first and second flats and may be inserted into the anchor pin slot when the first and second flats are aligned with the first and second connecting surfaces.

Actuator for drum brake assembly

An electric actuator assembly for a drum brake assembly having a brake drum includes a housing and a gear nut configured for rotation by a motor and provided in the housing. A pin extends longitudinally within the housing and is associated with a first clevis for receiving a first brake shoe. A spindle extends longitudinally within the housing and is aligned with the pin. The spindle has a first threaded connection with a second clevis for receiving a second brake shoe and a second threaded connection with the gear nut. The distance between the first clevis and the second clevis increases in response to rotation of the gear nut to move the brake shoes towards the drake drum. The second clevis is urged towards the first clevis in response to cooling of the brake drum in order to back drive the spindle and gear nut and thereby reduce the distance between the first clevis and second clevis.

Mechanism for securing a vehicle protection system and a backing plate of a brake assembly to an axle of a vehicle

A mechanism for securing a vehicle protection system to an axle of a vehicle is provided. The mechanism may include a plurality of studs that are configured to secure the vehicle protection system and the backing plate of a brake assembly to an axle flange of a vehicle's axle. Each stud may include an outer end separated from an inner end by a spacer. The outer end may also include an expanded section adjacent the spacer that can be positioned within bolt holes of the axle flange. The expanded section may include knurls for forming a press fit within the bolt holes.

A method of refurbishing a steel-shell brake drum that includes superheating a worn-out brake drum until the worn-out brake drum is glowing hot. The worn-out brake drum includes a steel shell and a worn-out, gray-iron layer bonded to an inside surface of the steel shell. The method further includes centrifugal casting additional molten iron to the gray-iron layer to increase the radial thickness of the gray-iron layer.

Drum brake, brake system, and vehicle

A drum brake with a carrier, a deformation sensor, and at least one brake shoe. The carrier is connected to a supporting bearing for the at least one brake shoe. The deformation sensor is designed to determine a deformation of the carrier. A brake system includes at least one such drum brake, and a vehicle with such a brake system or with at least one such drum brake.
