A deployment mechanism for a seat table has a non-linear motion slide comprising a primary carriage movable back and forth along a primary track. A secondary carriage is coupled to the primary carriage and moves with the primary carriage. A secondary non-linear track runs non-parallel with the primary track. The secondary carriage is coupled to the secondary track and is movable back and forth along the secondary track. The coupling between the secondary carriage and the primary carriage allows relative movement between the carriages in a transverse direction and allows relative rotation between the secondary carriage and the primary carriage about a perpendicular axis.

A seat pivotably mounted to a seat base via a swivel connector, and a work surface assembly pivotably mounted above the seat base and below the seat via the swivel connector. In particular, a bushing may be attached to an outer surface of the swivel connector in a manner in which the bushing is axially fixed, yet rotatable relative to the swivel connector, such as via an arrangement of protrusions and grooves on the bushing and connector, respectively. A portion of the tablet arm is received over the bushing, such that the bushing provides a low-friction interface between work surface assembly and the seat. In this arrangement, the pivot connection between the work surface assembly and the chair is functionally independent of the pivot connection between the seat and seat base. This functional independence facilitates assembly of the work surface assembly to the chair, and allows the pivotable work surface to be retrofit to preexisting swivel chairs.

A projectile resistant desk. The desk includes a desktop support having a receptacle and a removable desktop hingedly coupled to a slip rod; wherein the slip rod substantially corresponds to the receptacle and allows the desktop to be removably secured to the desktop support. The projectile resistant desk is suited for frame styled or storage styled supports. The desktop can be made of a variety of materials including bullet-resistant glass, polycarbonates, polyurethane, fiberglass and resins and can include one or more handles on its underside. The desk can further include a projectile resistant leg shield.

Furniture pieces are disclosed. A furniture piece includes a body, a non-flat base surface, a seat surface, a back protrusion, and a work surface. The non-flat base surface is positioned on a first side of the body, and the seat surface is positioned on a second side of the body opposite the first side. The back protrusion extends outward from the second side of the body adjacent the seat surface. The work surface is positioned on a third side of the body extending between the first and second sides.

Described are tray table assemblies that include an upper cover, a lower cover, and a support structure disposed between the upper cover and the lower cover. The support structure may include a plurality of upper protrusions extending toward an inner surface of the upper cover and a plurality of lower protrusions extending toward an inner surface of the lower cover such that the support structure provides structural rigidity to the tray table assembly. The plurality of upper protrusions may contact the inner surface of the upper cover, the plurality of lower protrusions may contact the inner surface of the lower cover, and the support structure may dissipate heat.
