An elevating shelf system having a shelf assembly with a three-sided frame, a top panel and a bottom panel that fits inside an open-top enclosure. Also included is a lifting assembly. The shelf assembly can be raised or lowered within the enclosure while the lifting assembly imparts an upward vertical force on the shelf assembly to make lifting easier.
