Mechanical connector of long torsional and bending fatigue life
11434699 · 2022-09-06 ·

This invention builds up on technical features and on the industry experience with the use of Merlin™ family connectors. In addition to friction, structural means utilized in order to transfer high torsional loads include: dog-clutch teeth, shear pins, keys, splines and interlocked thread systems, all used in isolation or in arbitrary combinations. Static and fatigue bending load capacities of the connectors remain high, while the axial load capacities may or may not be high, depending on the design requirements. Connectors according to this invention can be built as new, carefully optimized designs. In some cases upgrading existing Merlin™ family connector designs to increase they torque transfer capacities may be also feasible.

A corrugated pipe connection device is completely coupled by primarily screwing a nut and a socket after interposing a clamping ring between the nut and the socket, inserting an one-side portion of a corrugated pipe, including a groove and a ridge that are successively and alternately formed, into the nut, and secondarily screwing the nut and the socket so that an inner portion of the clamping ring is inserted into the groove of the corrugated pipe and a distal end of the corrugated pipe is pressed. The corrugated pipe connection device is easily coupled in a simplified manner and is capable of achieving enhanced sealing efficiency.

FLEXIBLE HOSE WTIH CLOSABLE CUFF, MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR, AND DEVICES CONTAINING

A flexible hose has a length of hollow tubing and a closed cuff. A method for manufacturing a flexible hose, has the steps of providing a length of flexible tubing, providing a closable cuff, aligning the closable cuff with the hollow tubing at a closed cuff location, and affixing the closable cuff to the length of hollow tubing by closing the closable cuff around the length of hollow tubing at the closed cuff location, thereby forming a flexible hose having a closed cuff. The method does not include the step of screwing the closable cuff onto the length of hollow tubing. Devices may also contain such a flexible hose.

CONNECTION DEVICE FOR A PERIPHERALLY RIBBED PIPE

The invention relates to a connection device for a peripherally ribbed pipe (4), comprising:—a pipe receptacle (1) having a receiving opening for receiving an end of the pipe (4); and—at least one catch element (3) for fastening the pipe (4) in the pipe receptacle (1). The pipe receptacle (1) has a longitudinal center plane (M), which extends through the receiving opening. The catch element (3) has a first point (S1), which allows movement of at least part of the catch element relative to the pipe receptacle (1), and a second point (S2), which is designed to engage in a corrugation trough (41) of the peripherally ribbed pipe (4). At least when the pipe (4) is inserted and fastened, the first point (S1) lies closer to the longitudinal center plane (M) than the second point (S2) does. The connection device according to the invention allows easy, leak-tight and secure fastening of a pipe.

A pipe connection used in corrugated pipe includes a male/female connection that is configured to accommodate movement of the male connector in the female connector after installation of the pipe. The ability to maintain a satisfactory pipe connection throughout a desired and designed range of movement is helpful in applications where the pipe may be exposed to changing conditions such as ground settling, ground shifting, earthquake or other conditions. The male connector and the female connector for receiving the male connector are oversized to allow additional insertion of the male connector or partial withdrawal of the male connector while maintaining the pipe connection throughout the range of movement. The pipe connection can also be used to provide an effective two stage male/female connection between reinforced plastic pipe sections.
